General Info

Depoali Middle School is excited to host this VEX IQ Full Volume tournament! Students and attendees are sure to have a fun-filled day of robotics competition and we look forward to seeing all of the teams shine! Make sure you don't forget batteries, chargers, and license plates!

Things to know before the tournament:

1.  Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments. The inspection checklist can be found here. 

2. Check the official VEX forums for rule updates and changes. 

3. Carefully read all of the information contained in the tournament posting on RobotEvents.com 

4. Pack for the event the day before the day of departure. Here are a few items that you don't want to forget. 

  • Goggles/Safety Glasses 

  • Spare parts & tools 

  • Batteries and chargers 

  • Programming cable 

  • Power strip 

  • Laptop computer 

  • Engineering notebook (if you have one, helpful for Judges, Design and Excellence Awards ) 

  • Banners and other decorations for your team pit

5. Be sure to read 101 Things You Should Know Before Your First VEX Tournament.  

6. Remember that safety comes first, please don't bring tools that pose a safety risk to your team, or others nearby. Also, remember no grinding or other actions that create sparks. 

7. Understand how the game will be played.

8. Read through the Robot troubleshooting guide. 

All attendees are expected to abide by the code of conduct.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

Agenda

7:30 am – Doors open to public

8:00 am – 8:30 am – Inspections

8:30 am – 8:45 am – Drivers Meeting, Judges meeting, Match Schedule distributed at the End of Drivers Meeting

8:45 am – 9:00 am – Opening Ceremony

9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Qualification Matches

9:00 am - 11:30 pm - Skills Challenge

12:00 pm – 1:30 pm – Eliminations & Awards

1:30 pm – 2:30 pm – Event clean up

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

Please check your email for updates.

If the weather does not allow for safe travel, refunds will be issued in the case that the tournament cannot be delayed and gets canceled.

If you do not feel safe traveling, please stay home and contact me at [email protected].

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: 

Refunds will be given unless other circumstances apply.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

This is case by case, but in general:             

  • If your registration prevented someone else from registering, you may not receive a refund.

  • If a team is able to take your place, you will probably get a refund.

  • If it is an emergency or weather prevents you from coming, you will probably get a refund.

Payment is due by January 10 - if a team has not paid by this date, they will be moved to the waiting list and others may take their spot.

 

Judging Format

The judging format for this tournament is listed below:

  • All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event.

  • Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
