General Info
Welcome to Northern California VEXIQ Middle School Regional Championship!
This year the event will once again be held at the Hiller Aviation Museum. You will compete amongst 150 years of aviation history. The Hiller Aviation Museum is located at the San Carlos Airport in San Carlos, California. The museum was founded by Stanley Hiller in June 1998. and is endowed by members of the Hiller family. It has some amazing aircraft on display, as well as other excellent exhibits. The venue is truly a wonderful location for the entire family. You certainly won't be bored waiting for your next match.
If you qualify for this event, please be sure to register within two weeks of receiveing your invitation. This event is a World Championship Qualifying event and will receive spots according to the REC Foundation's Qualifying Criteria.

- Teams not checked-in by 8:30am will be removed from the schedule
- Teams that have not passed inspection by 9.00am will be removed from the schedule
9:30am Qualification matches begin, Skills fields open
12:30pm LUNCH

5:00pm Qualification matches finish and skills events close

Volunteer
Volunteers will be needed for event setup (on Friday evening), robot inspection, field scoring, field reset, judging, queuing and other positions.

Some roles do require training ahead of time, which will be arranged and conducted via Zoom.

In the case of bad weather conditions or possible cancellations, please visit the event on Robotevents.com where updates about the event status will be posted as needed. Please make sure your team's contact information is up to date in your RobotEvents.com account in the event we need to contact your team.
Refund and Payment Policies
General Polcy:
Event payments are expected when you register for this event and must be completed (showing PAID in the system) a minimum of 1 week prior to the event date. Unpaid teams will be removed from the event, allowing space for teams on the wait list. Limited refunds will be made once a team is marked PAID in the sysytem, but only if requested more than 3 weeks ahead of the event. Please contact Barry Coleman ([email protected]) regarding any questions or concerns.
If the Event Partner cancels the event:
This event is unlikely to cancel. In the circumstance that it is necessary to cancel the event all funds (minus amounts paid to RobotEvents.com) will be refunded.
If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:
If a team wishes to withdraw from the event then please contact Barry Coleman ([email protected]). There will be no refunds in the last 3 weeks before the tournament. No shows will not be refunded.
Health and Safety Policies
The situation with Covid-19 and other national health emergencies will govern the event.
The venue is located in San Mateo County and we will be following San Mateo County and HIller Aviation Museum rules regarding masks, vaccinations and other health and safety rules.
We will post other Health and Safety notices here in a timely manner. Please ensure that your team contact information is up to date so we can inform you if the situation changes.

From San Francisco: Take Hwy 101 south the Holly Street/Redwood Shores Pkwy exit. Go east onto Redwood Shores Pkwy. Turn right onto Airport Road. Turn right onto Skyway Road.
From San Jose: Take Hwy 101 north to Holly Street/Redwood Shores Pkwy exit. Go east onto Redwood Shores Pkwy. Turn right onto Airport Road. Turn right onto Skyway Road.
By Train: Train users must walk from Caltrain Station to Hiller Aviation Museum (approximately 1 mile). Take Caltrain to the San Carlos station. Walk along the station generally northward toward San Francisco (parallel to the tracks). Turn Right at the Holly Street crossing and continue eastward along the road crossing over Hwy 101 (You can see the museum on your right from the overcrossing). Turn right at Airport Road and continue right onto Skyway Road continuing to the museum. Schedules are available online from Caltrain.
By Bus: SamTrans provides bus service over the El Camino corridor with connections to other transit systems throughout the bay area. Take any bus to the San Carlos stop (very near the CalTrain train station) and follow the directions listed above for train users. Schedules and system information is available from SamTrans. There is no direct bus service to the airport.

Judging Format
All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event.
Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
Electronic notebook submission will not be permitted at this event, please print your notebook and submit it at the registration and check-in desk.
