General Info

Welcome to Japan League VIQRC 2023-2024 FULL VOLUME!

After registering for the league, please proceed to "Register Each Session" to sign up for the ranking sessions and the finals session you wish to participate in, and make the payment for the registration fee.

The purpose of organizing a league rather than tournaments in Japan is to provide VIQRC teams with more opportunities to participate in competitive events. Previously, tournaments were primarily held with the aim of qualifying for the World Championship, and these tournaments took place only once per season.
By adopting a league format, not only teams aiming for the World Championship but also teams not specifically targeting World Championship qualification will have the opportunity to participate in a greater number of domestic competitions.

Ranking Session:
Teams aiming for participation in the World Championship need to take part in the Finals Session and achieve excellent results. However, in the regular league format, all teams are ranked based on the number of matches played, with teams that have participated in over 60% of the total matches being ranked higher than those who have participated in less than 60% of the total matches. Only the top-ranked teams qualify for participation in the Finals Session. At the current stage, regional ranking sessions are not being conducted, and the number of registered teams does not exceed the number of teams that can participate in the Finals Session. Therefore, the majority of teams aiming for participation in the World Championship should be able to participate in the Finals Session (as of July 13, 2023). However, if the number of teams aiming for the World Championship exceeds expectations, the teams participating in the Finals Session will be determined according to the rules set by the REC Foundation.

Finals Session:
On March 3rd (Sunday), the finals for both the elementary school teams and the junior high school teams will be held simultaneously. Originally, robot skills were planned to be judged based on the rankings session results, and there were no plans to conduct matches on the day of the competition. However, as the number of teams aiming for participation in the world competition this season has increased to 26, all teams will now have the opportunity to participate in the Finals Session. However, due to the presence of teams residing outside the Kanto region and teams that faced operational challenges in participating in the rankings session at their schools, on March 3rd, we will conduct a rankings session, including skills matches, in the morning, and the Finals Session will take place in the afternoon. Both the rankings session and the Finals Session will be held on the same day (changed to January 22nd).

Eng. Notebook for the Finals Session:
Please submit a scanned (or photographed for duplication) Engineering Notebook by 11:59 AM on the 22nd (Thursday). Submissions after this deadline will not be accepted until March 3rd, so please be aware of this.
Starting from the afternoon of the 22nd (Thursday), specialized judges for the Engineering Notebook will begin evaluations, taking 10 days to assess each notebook individually. We will decide the nominees for each award by the morning of March 3rd.
On the day of the event, March 3rd, the evaluation of morning interviews will be combined with the selection of award-winning teams in the afternoon.
However, there's an important announcement!
You don't need to wait scanning the Engineering Notebooks until the final activity day of this week. Many teams are likely to improve their robots over the remaining 10 days. Any additional content added to the Engineering Notebook, such as enhancements to the robot or programming and changes in strategy, will be considered in the evaluation until March 3rd (Sunday).
So, please make sure to bring your Engineering Notebook on the event day! Don't forget.
To submit your Engineering Notebook(s), please upload it through your team’s account on robotevents.com. (updated on Feb 19)
