General Info

Please join us for VEX VIQC Full Volume League Tournament at Deep Creek Middle School School! This is a blended VEX IQ tournament for both Elementary and Middle School teams and will qualify teams for the State Championship.

This is our first year running this so please allow some grace as we work out the kinks. 

This event is tentative and is subject to cancellation by the school and/or district due to COVID. 

  • Only coaches and team members will be allowed in the building for the first match. We will reevaluate after the first match to see if other spectators will be allowed in the building. 

Payment is due by the start of the tournament.  Hot dogs will be sold at the event for $2.00 and water for $1.00.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

Tentative Schedule 


5:00-7:00 Skills and Qualification Matches

  • 5:00pm sign in and wait at pit area for the rest of the team. Then go to robot inspections
  • After inspections use practice fields.
  • 5:20pm 4 teamwork matches will occur for the first 3 league tournaments
  • On the 4th league tournament after inspections teams will report to fields for skills and programming and once these are complete teamsork will begin for our League Fianls.
  • Finsh and clean up by 7:00pm

Volunteer

Volunteers make robotics tournaments possible and are essential for providing these STEM learning opportunities for our friends and family. Please consider volunteering to help make this event a success. Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event of bad weather, teams will be informed and a refund will be issued, minus the $5 RECF fee. 

Refund and Payment Policies

No refunds unless the tournament is cancelled because of weather or COVID restrictions in Chesapeake.  In the event of cancellation due to these reasons refund will only be $70, less the $5 processing fee the REC Foundation charges for each registrant, and to cover expenses incured leading up to the event.

Unpaid teams will be put on the waitlist two weeks before the event, unless payment has been worked out via email with the EP Melodie Surratt.

Health and Safety Policies

This event is tentative and is subject to cancellation by the school and/or district due to COVID. Furthermore, specific COVID protocols will be in place conforming with school, district, and local policies/requirements. Such protocols may include (but not be limited to) 

  • Anyone with any COVID-19 symptoms must stay home and are not allowed in the facility
  • Masks/face covering are required 
  • Limited to registered student and adult (coach/mentor) participants
  • Limited number of spectators will be allowed, wristbands will be sold at the door and required for entry.

Remoting judging.  The enginerring notebooks must be uploaded.
