Welcome to the 2023 VEX IQ Region 4 Middle School Championship!!!

We're excited to bring this WORLD QUALIFYING event to Central Texas and can't wait for you to join us.  

Only digital Engineering Notebooks will be accepted.  Please make sure your notebook is uploaded to your team account by Wednesday, March 1st. 

***If accomodations need to be made for a Sign Language interpretor, a request must be received by February 11th. Please email andrew.haub@huttoisd.net for request.

Concessions will be available for in-person competitiors.

Volunteer

Get Inspired and Have Fun! Be a part of the excitement by joining a team of volunteers who help in a variety of ways to make this event a success for the students involved.

Volunteer Coordinator contact: andrew.haub@huttoisd.net

Experience level: No previous experience is needed for most volunteer positions, and you can even bring your kids for a family activity (for example, Field Resetter is an ideal position for young children). 

Time Commitment: You can register for an entire day, or just a portion of the day as your schedule permits for most positions. 

Meals: Lunch is included for volunteers.

Volunteer Positions Needed: 

  • Judges (no previous experience required – all day commitment)
  • Referee/Scorekeepers including Skills Referee (previous experience preferred)
  • Field Resetters (no previous experience required)

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

The event partner will contact teams in the event of fire, flood, tornado, hurricane, road closures and other unforeseen events that may affect the health and safety of teams or the teams' ability to get to the venue.

The event will be rescheduled if it needs to be postponed.

Be sure your team contact information for the day of the event is up to date in Robotevents.

Refund and Payment Policies

Refunds will be issued up to 14-days prior to this event only if a replacement team is available to fill the vacated spot.  Refunds will not be issued after that time except in the case of very extenuating circumstances at the event partner's discression.  

Please be aware that event partners have fixed costs and rely on team registrations to meet these obligations.

All refunds regardless of the reason will be reduced by the REC Foundation fee imposed on the event partner.

Health and Safety Policies

Hutto ISD Safety Protocols for this event:

  • You must answer NO to all the following COVID-19 Symptoms:

    • NEW or CHANGING cough
    • Shortness of breath
    • Fever or temp greater than 100°F
    • Chills
    • Repeated shaking with chills
    • Muscle pain
    • Unusual headache
    • Sore throat
    • Loss of taste or smell
  • Game setup will be handled by event staff every round in order to minimize cross-exposure
  • The consumption of Food & Drink will not be allowed in the competition area.

REC Foundation COVID-19 Health & Safety statement: “All approved events and event attendees are required to follow all local, state, federal, or any other government ordinances regarding COVID-19 safety procedures, social distancing, and best hygiene practices. Event Partners should continually assess, based on current government guidelines, whether to postpone, cancel, or significantly reduce the number of attendees when necessary.”

Judging Format

The Team Interviews will be judged in-person the day of the event.

Only digital Engineering Notebooks will be accepted.  Please make sure your notebook is uploaded to your team account by Wednesday, March 1st. 

Teams do not need to bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
