Tentative Schedule of Event. Times will depend on the number of participating teams.

7:30 AM  Volunteer Check In

8:00 AM  Team Check in, Pit set up, and Robot Inspection begin. 

9:00 AM  ALL TEAMS PARTICIPATING IN THE EVENT NEED TO BE CHECKED IN OR WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE MATCH SCHEDULE. 
               Team/Driver Meeting, Pits CLOSED

9:15 AM  Opening Ceremony, Pits CLOSED

9:30 AM  Matches and Judging begin

12:00 PM  Lunch break

12:45 PM  Matches and Judging resume

3:15 PM  Matches and Judging end

3:30 PM Finals Matches and Awards

4:30 PM Pits/event close. Cleanup begins

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the case of bad weather conditions or possible cancellations, please visit the event on Robotevents.com where updates about the event status will be posted as needed. Event Partners will also make every effort to reach teams directly in case of an emergency.  Make sure your team contact information is up to date in your robotevents.com account, as this is the information that will be used to contact your team. Teams should make sure their contact information in Robotevents.com includes both school and non-school phone numbers.

Refund and Payment Policies

Choose wisely if this is the event you are selecting. Once you register you will NOT be able to move to a different city. You will NOT be refunded your fee and teams will be moved to the wait list if they have not completed the payment by February 17, 2023.  It is your responsibility to make sure that the payments have been processed in time.  We will use the visible record of payment on robotevents.com to make the determination.

We wiil follow Los Angeles County and Los Angeles Unified School District health and safety guidelines.

Judging Format

Remote Judging:  The Team Interviews will be conducted remotely, and Engineering Notebooks will be submitted to judges electronically. Interviews and Notebook submission deadlines will be scheduled ahead of the event date. Additional details will be posted on the Remote Judging tab and sent to registered teams via email.

Remote Judging

Detailed instructions for Remote Judging will be posted here and emailed to regisstered teams by Monday, February 6, 2023.  Posted February 3, 2023.

Links to Digital Engineering Notebooks and Remote Judging Sign-Up Forms are due by Friday, February 17, 2023 or by your Payment Due Date, whichever is later.

Important Notes

• Teams must submit a Remote Judging Sign-Up Form by the Due Date to be scheduled for a Remote Judging Interview.

  • Teams submit coach and alternate contact information with the Sign-Up Form.
  • Teams should submit a link for Team Photo with the Sign-Up Form.
  • The Team Photo should include students, coaches, mentors, and robot with license plate visible.
  • Teams can indicate their schedule preferences for Remote Judging Interviews in 1-hour blocks.
• Teams must submit a Link for Digital Engineering Notebook by the Due Date to qualify for the Excellence Award and Design Award. Teams that created hardcopy notebooks can scan them in and submit them as a PDF or as a Photo Gallery.
• All Remote Judging Interview participants (students and one adult) must complete the online Participant Release Form by the Due Date. You should have already done this for the previous events that your team attended. Any team member who does not have a Participant Release Form on file might not be allowed to participate in a Remote Judging Interview. If the adult team member does not have a Participant Release Form on file, the team might not be allowed to participate in a Remote Judging Interview.
• The Remote Judging Interview Schedule will be available a few days after the Due Date.

• Remote Judging Interviews will be conducted using Zoom Breakout Rooms.

• Team members will not be allowed to Chat or Share Screens during Remote Judging Interviews.
• Remote Judging Interviews will be limited to 10 minutes.
• Remote Judging Interviews will follow a script based on the Team Interview Rubric.
• The Engineering Notebook Rubric and Team Interview Rubric are Pages 36 and 37 in the Guide to Judging.

Volunteer to be a Remote Judge

Coaches and mentors are invited to volunteer as Remote Judges for Championships that their affiliated teams are not attending. Additional volunteer Information is available on the Remote Judge Sign-Up Form.
