General Info

The Newton County School System is excited to host the GA Vex IQ Middle School State Championship at Newton High School.  Students and attendees are sure to have a fun-filled day of robotics competition and we look forward to seeing all the teams shine!

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

Agenda

7:30am - 8:15am - Check-In/Registration

(NOTE: All teams must be checked in by 8:15am)

7:30am - 9:00am - Inspection

(NOTE: Inspection line will close at 8:45am)

8:00am - 9:30am - Skills Challenges

(NOTE: Teams will have a maximum of 3 driver and 3 programming attempts during the tournament.  Please take advantage of this time in the morning to run skills so you are not trying to get them all in during qualification matches.  Skills fields will close during drivers meeting, welcome/opening session, and lunch.  Final Skills cut-off will be 2:00pm)

9:35am - 9:50am - Drivers Meeting

9:50am - 10:05am - Welcome and Opening Session

10:10am - 12:00pm - Qualification Matches & Skills Challenges

(Teams will need to run Skills Challenges in between matches, as time permits)

12:00pm - 12:30pm - Lunch

12:35pm - 2:30pm - Qualification Matches & Skills Challenges

(NOTE: Skills Challenge fields will close at 2pm and no other skills runs will be allowed after that time)

2:30pm - 2:45pm - Finals Pairings and Strategy Meetings

(Note: Top 16 teams will move to the finals)

2:45pm - 3:00pm - Finals

3:00pm - 3:30pm - Awards

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

Teams will be notified as early as possible if it is determined that bad weather will cause a change in event-day plans.

Refund and Payment Policies

Refunds will be made to teams up to two weeks prior to the event, provided a written request is submitted (via email) to Tim Schmitt ([email protected]).  Any cancellations inside of the two-week window will not result in a refund.

If the event is rescheduled because of a weather-related event, refunds will be issued on a case-by-case basis.
