General Info

Welcome to Whitlow's VEX IQ Pitching In Elementary School January Tournament. This tournament is being held at Whitlow Elementary School in Cumming, Georgia. We are asking that all Coaches and team members wear a mask at this event since we are combining multiple schools from around the area. Please limit the number of spectators at this event to allow for more room for teams space out. 

 Things you will need for competition:

  • Goggles/Safety Glasses
  • Spare parts & tools
  • Robot/controller/batteries/chargers/programming cable
  • Power strip (cords must be visible for teams to trip over)
  • Engineering Notebook – turned in by 9 AM for judged awards

Things to know:

  • Game rules
  • Check VEX forums for rule update and changes
  • Award definitions and what you need for award success
  • Practice for interviews (be able to explain you robot design)
  • Make sure you have the latest version of firmware

Event happenings:

  • Park in front or back of the school and come in the door at the front of the school by the cafeteria 
  • Have robot inspected/hand in engineering notebook/complete driver skills as soon as you arrive
  • When skills challenges are finished (each team may complete 3 driver & 3 programming) we will have the drivers' meeting
  • Each team will get to participate in 5-7 matches
  • 10 teams will be in the finals consisting of 5 finial matches

Following is an predicted agenda, please understand that the tournament may run longer if difficulities arise. 

8:00 am: School will be opened for teams 

8:00 am- 9:00 am: Inspection/Engineering Notebooks must be in to qualify for the Design Award or Excellence Award.

8:00 am- 10:00 am: Skills Challenges

10:00 am Drivers' Meeting 

10:15 am - 12:00 pm: Matches

12:00 pm - 12:30 pm: Lunch

12:30 pm - 1:00 pm: Matches

1:15 pm- 1:30 pm Finals and Awards


Volunteers should arrive at Whitlow at 7:30 am
