General Info

Welcome to the 2021 Colorado VEX IQ Elementary School State Championship!  This Championship is an open event and will be Skills-Only.  All Colorado VEX IQ Elementary School teams who are registered for the 2020-2021 season are eligible to register and compete! 

The event will be hybrid in format:  Teams who wish to do their Skils Challenges in-person may come to Soaring Heights during a scheduled time.  Those teams who wish to compete remotely may do their Skills Challenges at their own location, also at a scheduled time.  All judging will be done remotely at scheduled times, and all Digital Engineering Notebooks must be submitted via a LINK to the event partner.  Paper copies and/or downloaded files will not be accepted.  More details on signing up for scheduled time slots, and where to submit your notebook link, will be communicated to the teams as the date gets closer.

The 2021 Colorado VEX IQ Challenge Elementary School State Championship has been granted eight (8) spots to the Remote VEX Robotics World Championship 2021, as follows:

     Excellence Award = 1 spot

     Design Award = 1 spot

     Robot Skills Champion = 1 spot

     Innovate Award = 1 spot

     Think Award = 1 spot

     Amaze Award = 1 spot

     Build Award = 1 spot

     Create Award = 1 spot

 

If a team double-qualifies for a World Championship spot, the State’s next highest ranking team from the World Skills Standings up to and including the State Championship receives the invitation. World Championship qualifying awards and invitations are issued to teams whether or not the teams have expressed an intention to attend the event. Unaccepted World Championship invitations are not offered or transferred to other teams.

 

The team's primary adult contact (over the age of 18) must be present with the team for all interactions with event staff online, including judging, inspections, and matches.  During team interviews, the team adult should NOT contribute to the interview or to the team interaction with the judges in any way.  The adult's presence is for online safety purposes only.

Agenda

Judging: Friday, April 16th, 4-7 PM MST, 10-minute interviews followed by robot and field (if participating remotely) inspection.

Inspections: Friday, April 16th immediately following Judge's Interview

Pre-recorded Event Meeting: Sent to coaches by Friday, April 16th to watch with the team.

Skills: Saturday, April 17th, 9 AM - 3 PM MST, 45-minutes per team to complete up to (3) Driver and (3) Programming Robot Skills matches.  Teams attending in-person will have a one-hour time slot that includes 15 minutes for set up and practice matches.

Awards announced via email by Monday, April 19th.

Volunteer

We will need lots of volunteers to ensure a successful event!  Registered teams will receive a link to share for volunteer sign-up.  We will need both in-person and virtual volunteers.

Refund Policy

Refunds will be provided to teams that cancel by 3/26/21.  No refunds will be given the week of the event.
