STEM Research

This season the STEM Research Project is presented as a 4-minute video plus 15 seconds of credits that the team records and uploads to SchoolTube, YouTube, or a similar online video platform. A link to the video must be submitted to the Event Partner no later than ONE WEEK BEFORE the tournament date. Follow these steps:

  1. Please refer to the **STEM Research Project and Presentation** document from the REC Foundation. The document can be found in the VEX IQ Challenge Team Resources area at https://www.roboticseducation.org
  2. Record the STEM Presentation as a video following the instructions in the STEM Research Project and Presentation document.
  3. Upload the video to one of the online video resources following the instructions in the STEM Research Project and Presentation document.
  4. Have the coach or another adult email the link to the video, including the team number and contact information for the coach, to the Event Partner no later than ONE WEEK BEFORE the tournament date:

  5. Teams WILL NOT be interviewed by judges at the event, unless the event qualifies teams directly to VEX Worlds. Please refer to the STEM Research Project and Presentation document for details.
  6. Only ONE submission allowed per team. If two or more video links are sent to the Event Partner, only the first link received will be considered.
  7. The winner of the STEM Research Project Award will be announced with the other judged awards at the event.

There will be NO REFUNDS unless the event coordinator must cancel the event. If a refund must be made, it will be less the $5 Robot Events fee.

In the event of an emergency or bad weather that would affect our schedule, the event coordinator will contact all coaches.

General Info

Thank you for registering for the 2020 Mississippi VEX Robotics State Championship! We are excited to have you. Please check our page frequently for any updates to the schedule. ALL skills, pit interviews, and judging of engineering notebooks will take place in the morning during the skills competitions. The afternoon will focus strictly on matches. We will do any final interviews if needed after the qualification matches.

STEM Research Projects
All STEM Research Project video links should be submitted to jrichardson@madison-schools.com by Friday, February 14 at 3:00 pm and will be judged prior to the competition. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE JUDGED!! The top five (5) teams in contention for the award will deliver their 4-minute presentations in person to a panel of two (2) judges. To upload videos:

  1. Sign in to YouTube.
  2. At the top of the page, click Upload .
  3. Select Upload video.
  4. Before you start uploading the video, you can choose the video privacy settings.
  5. Select the video you'd like to upload from your computer. You can also import a video from Google Photos.
  6. As the video is uploading, you can edit both the basic information and the advanced settings of the video and decide if you want to notify subscribers (if you uncheck this option, no communication will be shared with your subscribers). Partners will also be able to adjust their Monetization settings. You can have a title up to 100 characters and a description up to 5,000 characters.
  7. Click Publish to finish uploading a public video to YouTube. If you set the video privacy setting to Private or Unlisted, just click Done to finish the upload or click Share to privately share your video.
  8. If you haven’t clicked Publish, your video won’t be viewable by other people. You can always publish your video at a later time in your Video Manager.

Once the upload is completed YouTube will send you an email to notify you that your video is done uploading and processing. You can then forward this email to jrichardson@madison-schools.com. If you prefer not to receive notification, you can opt out by visiting your email settings.

Mississippi VEX IQ – Middle School has been granted 4 World Championship spots:

If a team double-qualifies for a World Championship spot, the state’s next highest ranking team from the World Skills Standings up to and including the State Championship receives the invitation. World Championship invitations from the World Skills Standings are issued by email after the results of the State Championship have been posted at robotevents.com, and will not be announced at the State Championship.

World Championship qualifying awards and invitations are issued to teams whether or not the teams have expressed an intention to attend the event. Unaccepted World Championship invitations are not offered or transferred to other teams.
