STEM Research

This season the STEM Research Project is presented as a 4-minute video plus 15 seconds of credits that the team records and uploads to SchoolTube, YouTube, or a similar online video platform. A link to the video must be submitted to the Event Partner no later than ONE WEEK BEFORE the tournament date. Follow these steps:

  1. Please refer to the **STEM Research Project and Presentation** document from the REC Foundation. The document can be found in the VEX IQ Challenge Team Resources area at https://www.roboticseducation.org
  2. Record the STEM Presentation as a video following the instructions in the STEM Research Project and Presentation document.
  3. Upload the video to one of the online video resources following the instructions in the STEM Research Project and Presentation document.
  4. Have the coach or another adult email the link to the video, including the team number and contact information for the coach, to the Event Partner no later than ONE WEEK BEFORE the tournament date:

  5. Teams WILL NOT be interviewed by judges at the event, unless the event qualifies teams directly to VEX Worlds. Please refer to the STEM Research Project and Presentation document for details.
  6. Only ONE submission allowed per team. If two or more video links are sent to the Event Partner, only the first link received will be considered.
  7. The winner of the STEM Research Project Award will be announced with the other judged awards at the event.

Multiple hotels can be found near the event site, if you are traveling from a distance and need accommodations. If you need any other assistance please contact the event partner.

Refund Policy

Event payments are expected when you register for this event and must be completed (showing PAID in the system) a minimum of 1 week prior to the event date. Unpaid teams will be removed from the event, allowing space for teams on the wait list. No refunds will be made once a team is marked PAID in the system. Please contact Debbi Salom (robotics.sacredheart@gmail.com) regarding any questions or concerns.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the case of bad weather conditions or possible cancellations, please visit the event on Robotevents.com where updates about the event status will be posted as needed.  Please make sure your team's contact information is up to date in your RobotEvents.com account in the event we need to contact your team.

Volunteer

Volunteers will be needed for event setup and teardown, robot inspection, reset, judging, and other positions. It is expected that at least one full day volunteer will be provided per team. Teams will be contacted with the volunteer signup form prior to the event. Please contact Debbi Salom at robotics.sacredheart@gmail.com with any questions.

General Info

The All-Catholic Squared Away Invitational VEX IQ Tournament is a qualifing event for the 2019-2020 VIQC game Squared Away. The tournament will start with a prayer and the venue will close to go to mass during the tournament.

***This is an invitational event that is open to all Catholic school VEX IQ teams in a California diocese. Students do not need to be Catholic but they must be on a team from a Catholic school.***

In order to register your Catholic school VEX IQ team, please add your team to the waitlist and you will be contacted by the event partner with further instructions.

It is expected that at least one full day volunteer will be provided per team. Teams will be contacted with the volunteer signup form prior to the event.

STEM Presentation submission deadline is 11/15/19. Teams will be contacted with the submission form prior to the event.
