General Info

Please join us for the Richmond Invitational VEX IQ Tournament at Huguenot High School! This is a blended VEX IQ tournament for both Elementary and Middle School teams and will qualify teams for the State Championship. This is a closed event open primarily to teams in central Virginia. However, we do anticipate having some spots available to teams outside the region. If you want to attend (from inside or outside the region), add your team to the waiting list. RVA Robotics events are open to the public and free for spectators.

Lunch and snacks will be available for purchase with all proceeds benefiting the Huguenot High School Robotics Club.

Remember that you can submit your participant waiver forms online, and doing so will make registration quicker and easier. Complete the forms once and you are all set for this season's events (from any Event Partner)!

It is preferred that ALL PAYMENTS be made online through Robot Events before registration closes for the event. If you need to make other payment arrangements (such as bringing a check to the event), you must email RVA Robotics prior to registration closing. Teams that fail to make payment online or contact us prior to event registration closing will be removed from the event and a waitlist team will be added.

All VEX IQ activities, including competition fields, skills fields and pits will be in the gym. Separate skills fields will be available. Teams can expect six or seven teamwork qualification matches. There will be one or two divisions, depending on the number of teams attending.

Parking information:

  • Enter the parking lot from Forest Hill Avenue using South Coleman Lane.
  • Park in the lot closest to the gym (fourth left after turning onto South Coleman Lane; "IQ Parking" on map)
  • Use the Faculty/Staff lot ("VRC Parking" on map) or Visitor lot ("Overflow Parking" on map) if the gym lot is full
  • Please only use the VEX IQ dropoff/pickup lane long enough to unload your equipment to the curb.
  • Enter through the gym lobby (NOT the school's main entrance and NOT Door 25)

Volunteer

Volunteers make robotics tournaments possible and are essential for providing these STEM learning opportunities for our friends and family. Please consider volunteering to help make this event a success. Full-day volunteers will be provided a complimentary lunch. Click here to signup to volunteer at this event.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event of impending bad weather, RVA Robotics will work with the host site to determine if the event can be held on the regularly scheduled day and time. In the case of bad weather, the first choice will be to keep the event on the same day and alter the schedule. If that is not an option, the event will be postponed and held on February 15. Updates will be provided via email and posted to the event webpage on RobotEvents.com.

Refund Policy

Due to the nature of costs associated with hosting events, RVA Robotics is unable to offer refunds to teams that cancel their registration. However, please let us know if you are unable to attend so that we can better plan for the event. If, due to unforeseen circumstances, the event partner must cancel the event, at least 75% of the registration fees paid will be remitted back to the teams. If approved, refunds will be made within 60 days of the date of the event (or re-scheduled date, if appropriate) or within 30 days of when payment is received by RVA Robotics, whichever is later.
