Colour Kit Prize Draws

Last season, we couldn't help notice that kids were really interested in the colourful robots at VEX IQ tournaments.  As an incentive for teams to attend our competition early in the season, we are offerring three "Colour kit" prize draws.  Each colour kit consists of an assortment of "coloured" VEX IQ structural pieces that can be used to add a little colour to your robot for the rest of the season, and beyond.  Teams that have paid the registration fee, and are in attendance at our tournament, will be automatically entered into the draw*.  At 12 noon, on Nov 9, 2019 we will randomly draw three team numbers.  Each team, in the order drawn, will then choose one of the colour kits.  If for whatever reason, a colour kit goes unclaimed by 3pm on Nov 9, 2019, then we will draw another team number for that prize at 3pm.  Please note that cash is not offerred as a substitute for the colour kit prize.

Each kit includes:

1x Beam Base Pack

1x Beam Long Pack

2x Beam Base Pack

2x Beam Long Pack

Specialty Beam Base Pack

I was thinking of one yellow kit, one pink kit, and one orange kit.  Email me, mmilliard@smcdsb.on.ca if you have other suggestions for colour.

* Your host, "PF Robotics Academy", will not have its own teams entered into the Colour Kit prize draws.

STEM Research

This season the STEM Research Project is presented as a 4-minute video plus 15 seconds of credits that the team records and uploads to SchoolTube, YouTube, or a similar online video platform. A link to the video must be submitted to the Event Partner no later than ONE WEEK BEFORE the tournament date. Follow these steps:

  1. Please refer to the **STEM Research Project and Presentation** document from the REC Foundation. The document can be found in the VEX IQ Challenge Team Resources area at https://www.roboticseducation.org
  2. Record the STEM Presentation as a video following the instructions in the STEM Research Project and Presentation document.
  3. Upload the video to one of the online video resources following the instructions in the STEM Research Project and Presentation document.
  4. Have the coach or another adult email the link to the video, including the team number and contact information for the coach, to the Event Partner no later than ONE WEEK BEFORE the tournament date:

    Mike Milliard <mmilliard@smcdsb.on.ca>

  5. Teams WILL NOT be interviewed by judges at the event, unless the event qualifies teams directly to VEX Worlds. Please refer to the STEM Research Project and Presentation document for details.
  6. Only ONE submission allowed per team. If two or more video links are sent to the Event Partner, only the first link received will be considered.
  7. The winner of the STEM Research Project Award will be announced with the other judged awards at the event.

If you have questions about this process, please contact your REC Foundation Regional Support Manager. Refer to our website for contact information: www.robotevents.com/support
