General Info

Teams that have won qualifying awards at 2018-2019 events will compete for an invitation to compete at Worlds.

The Colorado VEX IQ State Championship, Elementary Division has been granted a total of 11 VEX IQ World Championship spots:

  • Elementary Excellence Award = 1 spot
  • Teamwork Champions = 2 spots
  • Design Award = 1 spot
  • STEM Research Project = 1 spot
  • Robot Skills Champion = 1 spot
  • Teamwork 2nd Place = 2 spots
  • Teamwork 3rd Place = 2 spots
  • Amaze Award = 1 spot

NOTE:  World Championship qualifying awards and invitations are issued to teams whether or not the teams have expressed an intention to attend the event. Unaccepted World Championship invitations are not offered or transferred to other teams.

Additional information: 

STEM Research:  The Colorado Elementary VIQ State Championship will be offering the STEM Research project award.  Teams that wish to participate may submit their entry by uploading it to YouTube.  Instructions on how to do this are located at this link.

Please note that there is only one entry per team allowed.  Additionally, the submission deadline is end-of-day, February 16.  Once you have uploaded your video to YouTube, please email the video URL to the tournament judge advisor (email listed below).

Double-Qualification:  If a team double-qualifies for a World Championship spot, the state’s next highest ranking team from the World Skills Standings up to and including the State Championship receives the invitation. World Championship invitations from the World Skills Standings are issued by email after the results of the State Championship have been posted at robotevents.com, and will not be announced at the State Championship.

Team Volunteers:  In order to facilitate a successful tournament, all participating teams are asked to provide at least 1-2 volunteers.  Once your team has registered, please ask your team members and their families to sign up at this link.

Location:  Erie Middle School, 650 Main Street, Erie, CO 80516.

Release Form:  Please remember as well to have all team members, coaches and volunteers complete the VEX Participant Release form (English, Spanish) by the day of the competition.

Code of Conduct:  Finally, please remember that this competition is for and by the students.  Share and discuss the new VEX Code of Conduct with students, coaches, mentors and parents.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In case of INCLEMENT WEATHER (as determined by the St Vrain Valley School District) the tournament will be postponed and moved to an alternate date (likely March 9th). 

Refund Policy

Full refunds less the $5 RobotEvents fee will be given to cancellations prior to 2/16/2019.
