To assist with concessions and a smooth lunch transition we are encouraging preorders of pizza and sandwiches at check in- please drop off completed and form with payment.  Preordered food will be available for pick up 11:00-12:00. Regular concessions will be available throughout the day.

STEM Research

The STEM Research project submission date has passed, all videos submitted by 12:00 a.m. Sun. 1/19/20 will be judged 

This season the STEM Research Project is presented as a 4-minute video plus 15 seconds of credits that the team records and uploads to SchoolTube, YouTube, or a similar online video platform. A link to the video must be submitted to the Event Partner no later than ONE WEEK BEFORE the tournament date. Follow these steps:

  1. Please refer to the **STEM Research Project and Presentation** document from the REC Foundation. The document can be found in the VEX IQ Challenge Team Resources area at https://www.roboticseducation.org
  2. Record the STEM Presentation as a video following the instructions in the STEM Research Project and Presentation document.
  3. Upload the video to one of the online video resources following the instructions in the STEM Research Project and Presentation document.
  4. Have the coach or another adult email the link to the video, including the team number and contact information for the coach, to the Event Partner no later than ONE WEEK BEFORE the tournament date:

  5. Teams WILL NOT be interviewed by judges at the event, unless the event qualifies teams directly to VEX Worlds. Please refer to the STEM Research Project and Presentation document for details.
  6. Only ONE submission allowed per team. If two or more video links are sent to the Event Partner, only the first link received will be considered.
  7. The winner of the STEM Research Project Award will be announced with the other judged awards at the event.

Refund Policy

Teams must pay within 2 weeks of registering and by the registration deadline or they will forfeit their spot. Teams that withdraw from the tournament before the registration deadline may receive a partial refund, $5 per team will be withheld. Teams that withdraw from the tournament after the registration deadline will not receive a refund.

Welcome

Welcome to the St Mary Catholic Schools VEX IQ Challenge-Squared Away- Elementary Division

Teams at the elementary level will be competing in VEX IQ Squared Away, hoping to take home the trophy and earn a spot in the Wisconsin VEX IQ State Championship! 

We have expanded our tournament from a mixed event to a split elementary and middle school event.  Please see our Middle School event page to register your Middle School Division Team.

 

Concessions

Concessions including: breakfast items, and hot food will be available. Please no carry-ins; concessions sales help support our robotics program.

We will be taking pre-orders and payment for pizza and sandwiches at check-in table.  Orders accepted for full pizzas until 10:00 a.m. delivery between 11:00-12:00 for teams to eat before, during, or after lunch break.

 

State Qualifying Spot Assignments for Wisconsin VEX IQ Events:

If 10 or more teams are registered at each level of a Blended event (Elementary School and Middle School) the Excellence Award must be offered at each level. The total number of state qualifying spots will increase by one.  

If the STEM Research Award is not offered at the event, the total number of qualifying spots remains the same as the table above. 

State Qualifying Spots are initially assigned based on the capacity of the event. After registration closes, and before the event, spots may be adjusted to reflect the number of teams registered for the event according to the table above. Qualifying Spots are assigned by the REC Foundation. The assignments are calculated based on the number of spots available for State Championship, the number and size of qualifying events in the State, and the historical double-qualification rates for the State. Finals matches for Wisconsin VEX IQ events:

Event Partners are encouraged to allow all teams to participate in Finals matches. However, at large events or events that are running late, the Event Partner may choose to run finals matches that do not include all teams present.
