This season the STEM Research Project is presented as a 4-minute video plus 15 seconds of credits that the team records and uploads to SchoolTube, YouTube, or a similar online video platform. A link to the video must be submitted to the Event Partner no later than ONE WEEK BEFORE the tournament date. Follow these steps:

  1. Please refer to the **STEM Research Project and Presentation** document from the REC Foundation. The document can be found in the VEX IQ Challenge Team Resources area at https://www.roboticseducation.org

  3. Upload the video to one of the online video resources following the instructions in the STEM Research Project and Presentation document.
  4. Have the coach or another adult email the link to the video, including the team number and contact information for the coach, to the Event Partner no later than ONE WEEK BEFORE the tournament date:

    Renee Klein <rklein@marcola.k12.or.us>

  5. Teams WILL NOT be interviewed by judges at the event, unless the event qualifies teams directly to VEX Worlds. Please refer to the STEM Research Project and Presentation document for details.
  6. Only ONE submission allowed per team. If two or more video links are sent to the Event Partner, only the first link received will be considered.
  7. The winner of the STEM Research Project Award will be announced with the other judged awards at the event.

VEX IQ Qualifying Tournament

This VEX IQ event is a qualifying event to the Oregon VEX IQ State Championships.  This season there will be two pathways to qualify for the Oregon VEX IQ State Championships.  Teams can qualify by winning a “qualifying award”, which can be found under the Awards Tab.  Teams can also qualify by posting a Skills score at an event.  Any Oregon VEX IQ team that does not win a qualifying award and has posted a Skills score will be invited to the VEX IQ State Championships on or before 2/16/2019.  If your team has any questions on the state qualification process, please contact your Regional Support Manager, Lisa Schultz at (206)482-2472 or Lisa_Schultz@roboticseducation.org.

At most Oregon VEX IQ events, the following awards will qualify teams to the State Championship:
(1) Excellence Award*
(2) Teamwork Champions
(1) Design Award
(1) STEM Research Project Award (Optional - check Awards tab)
(1) Robot Skills Champion Award

*NOTE: Events may award a separate Elementary and Middle School Excellence Award if there are a minimum of 10 teams registered for each grade level.

I will be looking for volunteers to help as referees and judges - please let me know if you would like to help out with this event!

Event volunteers will receive a ticket for a free lunch meal!
