General Info

VEX IQ Qualifying Event (LEAGUE)

This VEX IQ event is a qualifying event to the Washington VEX IQ State Championships and is open to all registered VEX IQ teams. Teams need to have competed in 60% of the available qualifying rounds provided at earlier events.  Teams that have not participated in 60% of the Qualification matches will be ranked below teams that have met the minimum participation level when creating the alliances for Finals Matches per the REC Foundation League Guidelines.

The following awards will qualify to the Washington State Championship at the finals event on 11/20/2019:

(2) - Teamwork Champions

League

As a league event, teams need to attend enough events to be able to participate in at least 60% of qualifying matches.  For our event, we have 4 dates scheduled, so teams would need to attend at least 3 times, including the finals to be able to meet the 60% participation level.

If the times/dates/locations of this league competition will be difficult for your team(s) to attend, please contact Kevin Tucker at 206-227-9236 by phone or text to discuss modifying or adding dates/times to make this event more accessible for you.

Please review this guide for more complete information: League Guide 2018-19

Parking:

Our parking lot entrance is on NE 79th Street, though Google may direct you to 78th.  Please come and park in our lot rather than on the street to avoid any inconvenience to our neighbors, there is plenty of space!  Please respect marked handicap parking spots.

Entrance:

Our parking lot entrance on the West side of the building will be open and has handicap access.  After entering the building, please go up the stairs to the 3rd floor and check-in in room 316. If you need handicap assistance, please let someone know and they will guide you through the route you need to take.

Practice Fields:

If you brought a practice field with you, please let us know at our check-in and we'll direct you to where you can set it up.  If you can, please let us know before the event if you can bring your field (Kevin Tucker: 206-227-9236 call or text).

NOTE:  Any practice fields brought to the event will be expected to be shared with other teams without prejudice.  Volunteers may step in to provide timers to limit individual teams from monopolizing any particular field.

Check-In & Inspection:

Check-ins and Inspection will be occurring on tables in Room 316 on the 3rd floor which is the main tournament room.  Please be sure to check-in and get inspected quickly to help our officials know if any plans need to be changed due to missing teams.  (If you know you cannot make it, please let us know as soon as possible!  (Kevin Tucker: 206-227-9236 call or text).

Team Pit Areas:

Team pit areas are available in the 3rd floor hallway and in several of the classrooms off that hallway.  We do not currently plan to assign space for teams and expect that teams can equitably share spaces for their build needs.  There are many electrical outlets available throughout the space for charging stations.  Just ask if you have any trouble finding a space.

Concessions:

There will be snacks available for purchase during the event.

Seating:

We will be providing some seating around our tournament fields but as this is league play, space is more limited.  We will be asking parents/mentors to cycle in/out of the main field room.  We will have seating in the hallways and in the various practice rooms.

Assistance/Emergency:

If you have any needs or have an emergency, please talk to someone wearing a volunteer badge and they will immediately help you with any issue that you have.

Code of Conduct:

We will be abiding by the Vex Code of Conduct and we will expect all teams, mentors and spectators to do the same.  This code will be posted visibly around our spaces for reference.

Cleanup:

There will be minimal cleanup, but we would appreciate you checking the area closely for any of your own items so you don't leave anything behind.

Legal stuff:

The event must meet the VEX IQ Qualifying Criteria for the results to upload to RobotEvents, which can be viewed in the Uploaded Documents event tab.  The state qualification spots are determined by the capacity of the State Championship, the number of events in the state, and the size of the event.  If there is an out-of-state/region/province/nation team, or a team that double qualifies from the event (not from previous events or other methods), that spot will go to the next highest unqualified team on the Robot Skills ranking at that event. There is no look-back to previous events to see if a team has previously qualified. These spots will be filled by the Regional Support Manager after the event has been uploaded and the results have been verified.  If you have questions about the State Championship qualification process, please contact your Regional Support Manager, Lisa Schultz at Lisa_Schultz@roboticseducation.org.
