General Info

The Virginia TSA VEX VRC State Championship is one of 70+ events that comprise the Virginia TSA State Leadership Conference, Technosphere. All teams registering must register for the Technosphere conference through the Virginia TSA Portal and be affiliated with a Virginia TSA chapter. All students participating in the TSA VEX Challenge must be TSA members.

All students, mentors, spectators and volunteers must follow all TSA Virginia health and safety protocols in place for Technosphere.

Teams will need to register both on Robot Events (completely FREE) as well as through the TSA Portal in order to compete at this event.

All activities (pits, inspection, competition fields) will be on Saturday, May 6, in Exhibit Hall A of the Hampton Roads Convention Center.

Spectators must register as guests through the Virginia TSA Portal or on-site (fees may apply).

All teams that wish to compete must register a (FREE) TSA VEX VRC team on Robot Events. If your team competed during the VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) regular season, they will need to register again on Robot Events, get a free TSA VEX number, and use that new number to register and compete at this event. There is a maximum of four teams per chapter that may register and compete at this event. When registering a new TSA VEX team on Robot Events, from the "Register a New Team in Another Program" section, choose "TSA VEX Robotics Competition Team Registration - TSA VRC 2021-2022". Teams will need to use this number on their robots and at check-in/inspection at Technosphere.

All teams that register for Technosphere by April 5, both in Robot Events and in the TSA Portal, will be eligible to advance to the National TSA Conference. The top three teams (maximum of two per chapter) will qualify for the National TSA Conference.

The event will follow standard VRC tournament guidelines. There will be no skills challenge runs. Teams will have four to six scheduled qualification matches that they will participate in. The top eight teams will choose their partners for the elimination rounds, which will be a standard 2-vs-2, 8-alliance, best-of-one tournament. A consolation final will be played between the Semifinal alliances that do not advance to the Final round. No judged awards will be presented.

All teams must be checked in and must successfully pass inspection by 12:00 pm (noon) on Saturday in order to participate in this event.
