General Info
Welcome to the MCCC/FIRST Solar “Over Under” VEXU event,
VEX events have been held on the campus of Monroe County Community College (MCCC) since the 2011-2012 “Gateway” season. The previous eleven seasons of VEX events have been fun and challenging. The event staff has always tried to flexible, transparent while providing some good quality fun for students, coaches and parents. Currently there are no Covid-19 protocols in place and expected that this will continue. Changes communicated via robotevents and email so visit the website for updates.
Registration includes lunch for all teams: Pizza 1-2 single item pizzas and drinks (water or soda pop).
Registration Information
All participating teams must be registered with VEX Robotics and the Robot Events website and have an official team number before registering for this event. Tournament fees must be paid before teams are allowed to compete. Registration and payments should be made through the Robot Events website.
Engineering notebooks
We will be collecting Physical engineering notebooks at this event for judging.
Lunch and Concessions
Registration includes 1 or 2 pizza per team for lunch, and we'll have free drinks (water and soda pop) all day. Additional food/snacks can be purchased in the MCCC's 24/7 Marketplace store adjaacent to the cafeteria.
Elimination Matches
Number of elimination alliances (we'll see how many teams come, good chance for everyone to be in eliminations)
Competition Preparation
All teams should come prepared for competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are prepared.

Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments. Robots must use VEX V5 parts. Please self inspect before arriving at the tournament using the VEX U Robot Inspection Checklist

Pack for the event the day before the day of departure. Here are a few items that you don't want to forget.

Be sure to read VEX Tournaments 101.

Review the descriptions and criteria for the awards that are being given during the tournament.

Prep for your interviews with the judges and read the Judge's Guide. Check the awards tab to see what awards will be given during the tournament.

Remember that safety comes first, please don't bring tools that pose a safety risk to your team, or others nearby, as teams are close to each other in the venue pit area. Also, remember no grinding or other actions that create sparks, ask the tournament director for a safe location if grinding is needed.

Ensure that you have the latest version of programming software and firmware for your V5 Brain.
Participation and Consent Form
A completed form for all participants must be uploaded to robotevents.com prior to the tournament. Team leaders will need to check that all team members attending the event have completed the online consent form prior to the tournament. Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
All reasonable efforts will be made to inform teams of any cancellations due to inclement weather. Refunds will be given in event of cancellation.
Please contact me if weather is a concern and please monitor the event status on Robot Events.com Cancellations will be posted there.
Refund and Payment Policies
Refunds will be granted in event of a cancellation due to Covid-19 or inclement weather.
Refunds less $5 RECF fee to cancel up to two weeks before event.

From U.S. 23
Take the M-50 exit at Dundee. Take M-50 (also known as South Custer Road) east approximately 12 miles. Take Raisinville Road South to MCCC approx 2 miles. Use the South Entrance Drive around back to the S building, event is in the cafeteria.
From I-75
Exit at LaPlaisance Road, Exit 11. Go west to Dunbar Road. Turn left on Dunbar, going about 7-10 miles to Raisinville Road, where you turn right. MCCC is located on right hand side of road approx 1/4 mile. Use the South Entrance, Drive around back to the S building, event is in the cafeteria.

Judging Format
- In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
