The Girl Powered International Fest is a great celebration of science and technology through robotics.

According to the World Economic Forum, the global gender gap 2021 in STEM areas is 35% and specifically in disruptive areas such as Cloud Computing, women represent 14% of the workforce, in Engineering 20% and the Data and AI the 32%.

In the UNESCO report and the World Agenda for Education 2030, “Cracking the Code: The education of girls and women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)” presents some factors that influence the participation of the female gender in these areas and most importantly presents some interventions that help increase the interest and engagement of girls and women in STEM education.

The REC Foundation's Girl Powered initiative is a great example of intervention that allows us to engage girls in STEM through robotics and in particular this event maximizes the actions for both the participating robotics teams and the girls who visit the event.

In the Girl Powerd International Fest, we will have the following:

·         VEX Robotics Competition – VEX IQ (ES and MS), VRC (both), and VEX U

·         Team posters about female role models in the community

·         Exposition of Research Projects (STEM project)

 ·         Workshops for visitors

·         Girl Talks: Women working in STEM

Robotics teams participating in the VEX IQ Challenge and VEX Robotics Competition will identify an inspiring woman in their community and honor her by making her known to the world through a poster. They will also have the opportunity to support and share with teams of girls from different countries.

The visiting girls will be able to share and get to know the robotics teams up close, as well as participate in different workshops. And we will all enjoy the talks by leading women in STEM areas.

NOTE: The teams don’t need speak Spanish to participate, we will provide some interpreters volunteers, and you also can use the Google translator.

The Airport closer to the event is the Mexico City International Airport (MEX)

El Girl Powered International Fest es una gran celebración de ciencia y tecnología a través de la robótica.

Según el Foro Económico Mundial, la brecha de género global 2021 en áreas STEM es del 35% y específicamente en áreas disruptivas como Cloud Computing, las mujeres representan el 14% de la fuerza laboral, en Ingeniería el 20% y el Datos e IA el 32%.

En el informe de la UNESCO y la Agenda Mundial de Educación  2030, “Descifrar el Código: La educación de las niñas y las mujeres en ciencias, tecnología, ingeniería y matemáticas (STEM)” presenta algunos factores que influyen en la participación del género femenino en estas áreas y lo más importante presenta algunas intervenciones que ayudan a aumentar el interés y el compromiso de niñas y mujeres en la educación STEM.

La iniciativa Girl Powered de REC Foundation es un gran ejemplo de intervención que nos permite enganchar a las niñas en STEM a través de la robótica y en particular este evento maximiza las acciones tanto para los equipos de robótica participantes como para las niñas y adolescentes que visitan el evento.

Los equipos de robótica participantes en las competencias VEX IQ Challenge y VEX Robotics Competition identificarán a una mujer inspiradora en su comunidad y le harán un homenaje al darla a conocer al mundo a través de un póster. Así mismo tendrán la oportunidad de apoyar y compartir con equipos de niñas de diferentes países.

Las niñas visitantes podrán compartir y conocer de cerca a los equipos de robótica, así como participar en diferentes workshops.

Y todos disfrutaremos de las charlas de mujeres referentes en áreas STEM.
