General Info

WPI is excited to be hosting a live, in pseron VEX U event at the WPI Campus Center this year! After the success of the WPI signature event, WPI is eager to support VEX and VEX U going forward. To help with this, registration for this event is just $5! All that we ask is that you attend, compete, and have a blast!

Each team will have a table and power in their pit area. Final schedule including number of competition fields, skill fields, and practice fields will be made available closer to the date of the event.

We will announce spots for advancement to Worlds as soon as possible.

Code of Conduct

This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

Every effort will be made to hold the event on 1/29, including delaying the start to facilitate safe travel for teams. A decision on a delayed start or rescheduling will be made by Thursday 1/27 at 1200. In the event of inclement weather, the snow date is Sunday 1/30.

If a team’s flight or other scheduled transportation is delayed, please notify the event management as soon as possible so we can try to accomodate.

Refund and Payment Policies

The $5 registration fee covers the mandatory fees oulined by RECF and robotevents.com. As such, there will be no refunds.

Health and Safety Policies

There are no spectators allowed. Only competitors on registered VEX U teams will be allowed to attend. The event will be webcast at twitch.tv/wpirobotics.
Attendees must wear a surgical, KN95, or N95 mask at all times while indoors.
Non-WPI attendees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, and provide a negative test for COVID-19 from the 72 hours prior to the event. This test can be a rapid, PCR, or at home test. If your college does regular surveillance testing for COVID-19, you can provide those results from the previous 72 hours (i.e. you do not need to get a test specifically for this event).
No eating in the competition room. Drinking beverages is allowed if done so by removing your mask to drink, then immediately replacing it.

Travel Info

Worcester, Massachusetts is a growing city approximately one hour from Boston. Worcester has a local airport serving Delta, American, and Jet Blue (airport code ORH), and is less than 90 minutes from Boston Logan (BOS), Hartford Bradley (BDL), Providence (PVD) or Manchester (MHT). WPI is also just a few minutes off of interstate 90.

Several hotels are avaialble near WPI, including the Courtyard by Marriot (walking distance), and the Hilton Garden Inn (1 mile). Budget hotel options are avaialble within a 15 minute drive from campus.
