Feb.  2025 - Aerial Drone Competition at DISCOVERY Children's Museum 

We look forward to welcoming you and your team to the DISCOVERY Museum. Please find event details below:

 

This event is located in the West Region which includes:

USA: Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming

Canada: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Yukon Territory, Northwest Territories

Please note: Only teams that are a part of the West Region are eligible to earn invitations to Regional Championships from this event. If your team is from outside this region, you may attend the event and will be eligible to earn awards and post scores to the global skills rankings, but will not be eligible to qualify for a Regional Championship from this event.

 

Competition Logbooks:

Physical (printed) copies of the Competition Logbook will be turned in at check in on the day of the tournament if the team wants it to be considered for judging. 

Safety Glasses:

Will be required for all participants and volunteers at the fields.

Participant Release Forms:

All students and adult mentors/coaches need to have the Participant Release Forms uploaded to the Coach's Robot Events account before the tournament. See the Document Tab for instructions

Special Parking Instructions:

DISCOVERY Children’s Museum is located at 360 Promenade Place, Las Vegas, NV, 89106

FREE parking is provided in the DISCOVERY garage only. Please park in the garage directly behind, and attached to the Museum - DISCOVERY shares a parking garage with The Smith Center for Performing Arts. Please see the parking map attached above. The entrance to the garage is on Robin Leach Lane, and you will need to collect a ticket to enter the garage. Please have your parking ticket validated at our Visitor Services desk before leaving for the day to ensure that you are not charged for parking. 

Arrival:

The museum will open at 8:00 am for the event. In the lobby of the museum, an event check-in table will be set up between 8:00 am – 10:00 am. All attendees will receive a wristband, and will be escorted to the second floor DISCOVERY Hall, where the event is taking place. The museum galleries and exhibits will be closed until the Museum opens to the general public at 10:00 am. Anyone entering the building for the event after 10:00 am should stop at the museum admission desk for free entry to the event. Please keep wristbands on all day; these will allow you to stay and play at DISCOVERY at no cost, following the competition.

Refreshments/Lunch:

Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase in the DISCOVERY Store on the first floor of the Museum between the hours of 8:00 am – 3:30 pm, or you may bring your own snacks and lunch. There is also a Starbucks located next door to the Museum. The Pit Area will be reserved as the lunch space.

Water Fill Stations:

The Museum has water fill stations available on all three floors of the museum. Please feel free to bring a water bottle to refill throughout the day.

Volunteer

We are seeking volunteers for the following positions: Emcee, Team Check-in, and Field Resetters.

Please reach out to Laura Christian at [email protected] if you are interested in volunteering for this event. Volunteers will each recieve complimentary passes to DISCOVERY for their service. Refreshments will be provided throughout the day for volunteers, and lunch will be served to volunteers as well.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

This event will be held indoors. We will communicate via email if unforeseen circumstances prevent us from hosting the event or if there are any changes to the start time due to an emergency or bad weather. 

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: 

In the event that DISCOVERY Children's Museum cancels the competition due to unforeseen circumstances, refunds will be provided to all registered teams.

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

No refunds will be provided for cancellations after registration, as the Museum incurs costs to reserve the competition space. 

 

Health and Safety Policies

Hand Sanitation Stations:

While hand washing is the recommended practice to reduce the spread of germs, hand sanitation stations will also be available onsite in the event space, and additional air filtration systems will be in place.
