General Info

Southeast Update 11.3.203

  • This event is located in the Southeast Region which includes:  Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. 

  • Teams who are from the Southeast Region and earn a qualifying award at this event will be invited to the Southeast Regional Championship - in Jackson, Mississippi  at the Mississippi Coliseum on April 12-13, 2024.

  • The award(s) that qualify for an invitation to the above regional championship will be found on the awards tab by December 1, 2024.  

  •  Additional invitations may be issued by January 12th based on the number of teams and events in the region.

Please note: If you are a team from outside this region, you may attend the event and will be eligible to earn awards and post scores to the global skills rankings, but you are not eligible to earn invitations to regional championships from this event.

 

Hello, and welcome to the Jackson Prep Drones over Flowood. This event will take place in the gym at Jackson Prep where it was held last year. This event will be a standard event and is open to all teams.

  • Food is nearby so plan lunch accordingly or have it delivered.
  • Bring your drinks and snacks because concessions will be limited, if any.
  • Tables will be provided.
  • Teams are encouraged to bring labeled extension cords and holder(box) or other container to protect your batteries so you know they are yours. Also, remember to bring safety glasses/goggles.
  • Parents are welcome to bring chairs and spectate from the sidelines.

Please Note:

  • All notebooks will be judged remotely and have a hard deadline of Jan. 5th 2024 11:59pm. If the document is not able to be opened, it will not be judged.
  • All interviews will be done in person during the event.
  • Be sure to note the times that Piloting Skills and Autonomous Skills will be open. It is the team's responsibility to do Skills before they close.
  • The new Teamwork Match format this year will be with two teams working together in a match to earn the most points possible.
  • The plan is to have Alliance Selections before Final matches begin. 
  • Awards will be given at the conclusion of the Finals.

Volunteer

We are in need of volunteers. Training for Referees and Judges will be provided by virtual webinars one month prior to the event. All teams are expected to have volunteers that can fill spots, if needed. We all work together and help each other out in drone competitions so that students have a great experience. If you are able to volunteer please email [email protected]

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

Only and act of God weather event will cancel the event.  If cancelled I will be calling the night before if we know a blizzard is coming.  Otherwise I will have the event.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: We will only cancel if it is a MAJOR weather event or other unexpected event.  We will refund money minus the robotevents fees. The business office will get them done after receiving payment from robotevents on our end.

 

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend: No Refunds - plan accordingly and only register if you are sure you are coming.
