General Info

Update 1.8.2024: This tournament is being rescheduled to Feb. 24, 2024. Any teams that registered and paid but will not be able to compete on the new date, please contact the Event Partner for information. 

Southeast Region

  • This event is located in the Southeast Region which includes:  Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. 

  • Teams who are from the Southeast Region and earn a qualifying award at this event will be invited to the Southeast Regional Championship - in Jackson, Mississippi  at the Mississippi Coliseum on April 12-13, 2024.

  • The award(s) that qualify for an invitation to the above regional championship will be found on the awards tab by December 1, 2024.  

  •  Additional invitations may be issued by January 12th based on the number of teams and events in the region.

Please note: If you are a team from outside this region, you may attend the event and will be eligible to earn awards and post scores to the global skills rankings, but you are not eligible to earn invitations to regional championships from this event.

The tournament will take place Saturday along with awards Saturday afternoon. Please be flexible as our agenda is tentative and subject to change. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please email [email protected].

Concessions: Food trucks will be available.

Consent Forms: All participants must have a Participant Release Form on file. It is the responsibility of the Team’s Primary Contact to make sure this occurs. A link to the instructions on how to submit a Participant Release Form is found HERE.

Digital Notebook: A digital Competition Logbook (or scanned copy of a written logbook) must be submitted to qualify for the Excellence Award and Design Award. Competition Logbooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. Logbooks must be submitted by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 if you want it considered for judging. The logbook is only shared with event staff, including the Event Partner, Judge Advisor, and Judges, and may include the REC Foundation Program Support Manager. Details on this process are given in the Judge Guide. 

Inspection: Inspection is scheduled first thing in the morning. All teams must pass inspection to be allowed to compete in either skills or qualification matches. Please be prepared and ensure that your drone will pass inspection BEFORE the competition by reviewing the INSPECTION CHECKLIST.

Interviews: All teams will be interviewed in-person at the event. Judges will come to interview teams in the pit area and will leave a note at your table if they miss you. Please leave a representative at your pit area at all times so they can come get you when the judges are ready for your team.

Tournament: Teams should carefully review the GAME MANUAL. Know the rules!!

Volunteers are an important part of our competitions and are greatly appreciated!! If you would be willing to volunteer, please sign up HERE. There is no experience necessary for most positions, and we will train you. AND we will provide lunch, snacks and drinks for you on competition day. 

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

If weather, a local emergency, or enhanced coronavirus restrictions cause us to cancel or modify the scheule for this event, all teams will be notified via email.

Refund and Payment Policies

Due to the financial commitment on the part of the event partner, no refunds will be possible. Thank you for your understanding.

Health and Safety Policies

All approved events and event attendees are required to follow all local, state, federal, or any other government ordinances regarding COVID-19 safety procedures, social distancing, and best hygiene practices. Event Partners should continually assess, based on current government guidelines, whether to postpone, cancel, or significantly reduce the number of attendees when necessary. 

Due to the evolving nature of COVID-19, safety precautions may be updated as the event date approaches.
