General Info

South Central: Update on 11.3.2023

This event is located in the South Central Region which includes: Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Teams who are from the South Central Region and earn a qualifying award at this event will be invited to the South Central Regional Championship - Location and Date TBA.
The award(s) that qualify for an invitation to the above regional championship will be found on the awards tab by December 1, 2024. Additional invitations may be issued by January 12th based on the number of teams and events in the region.

Please note: If you are a team from outside this region, you may attend the event and will be eligible to earn awards and post scores to the global skills rankings, but you are not eligible to earn invitations to regional championships from this event.

Welcome to our inaugural event. This event will be a blended event tournament. There will be an on-site concession stand for dinner. A link to our menu will be posted here and sent to coaches prior to the event.

Competition Preparation:

This event is sure to be a fast-paced and exciting event. All teams should come prepared for competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are prepared...

1. Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments.

2. Check the official Aerial Drone Competition Q & A and/or forum for rule updates and changes.

3. Pack for the event the day before the day of departure. Remember: Goggles/Safety glasses, spare parts and tools, batteries and chargers, programming cable, power strip/extension cord, laptop computer, and competition logbook.

4. Safety comes first. Please see the Health and Safety Tab. Tools brought with you should not pose a safety risk.

5. Understand how the game will be played. Participants are more than welcome to watch the referee training videos before they attend a tournament. The referee videos can be found using this LINK.

6. Be certain you have the latest version for both your programming software, controllers, batteries, drones, etc.

7. Participation and consent form - a completed form for all participants must be posted online. PLEASE turn this in electronically thru the REC website.

Volunteers are welcome to assist. We will train individuals to help us with the day. Contact David Brown at [email protected]. Student volunteers may be used for field reset and queing.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event of inclement weather a decision will made the day before the tournament whether or not to cancel the event. We will make every effort to reschedule the tournament if possible. Refunds will not be available to teams who cannot participate. Please take care of yourself.

Please note the payment deadline of 1 week prior to the event. Failure to get this taken care of may force team(s) to the Wait List.

Health and Safety Policies

Spectators will be allowed. Spectators will be encouraged to socially distance themselves while in the venue.
Only students and coaches for each program will be allowed inside the pit area.
Concession stand will be provided.
No charging stations will be provided.
After consultation with the local school district and the Regional Coordinator, the Event Partner reserves the right to make changes to the above Health and Safety Policies in order to facilitate the safest event possible for the students, coaches, and volunteers. Any changes to these requirements will be shared with registered teams as soon as possible.

Buses should park in the stadium parking lot on the East side of the building. Spectator and participant entrance will be on the stadium side of the building at the Media Center entrance.
