When giving two Excellence Awards at a combined event with more than 10 teams in each group, how are the Excellence Award criteria applied? For instance, do both the HS and the MS Excellence Award winners need to be in the top 5 (or 20%) of all teams in the overall event’s skills scores? Or does the HS team need to be in the top 5 HS teams in Skills, and the MS team need to be in the top 5% of MS scores?

When there are two Excellence Awards at a blended event, the award criteria would be applied independently to the respective grade level. In your example of skills rankings, it would be the top 5 or top 20% (whichever is larger) among middle school teams for the middle school award, and top 5 or top 20% (whichever is larger) among high school teams for the high school award.
