Join us for an empowering Girl Powered event focused on STEM and Robotics! This exciting day is designed for elementary-aged girls to explore the world of science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on activities and teamwork. Participants will build and program robots, tackle engineering challenges, and discover the thrill of problem-solving in a supportive environment. Lunch will be provided, offering a chance to relax and connect with fellow participants and inspiring mentors. 11:15 AM - 12:15 PM: Engineering Challenge: What types of structures can you build using different materials?

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

Bad Weather Policy

1. Monitoring Weather Conditions: The event organizers will continuously monitor weather forecasts leading up to and during the event. A decision on whether to proceed with the event or make changes will be based on reliable weather data and safety considerations.

2. Decision-Making Timeline:

  • 24-48 Hours Before the Event: The organizers will review weather forecasts and make a preliminary decision. If severe weather is predicted, participants will be informed of potential changes as soon as possible.
  • Day of the Event: A final decision will be made at least [insert time, e.g., 2 hours] before the event start time. Updates will be communicated via [insert methods, e.g., email, text, social media].

3. Potential Outcomes:

  • Event Postponement: If the event is postponed, new details will be provided, including the rescheduled date and time.
  • Event Cancellation: If the event is canceled, a full refund will be issued, or participants will be offered an alternative arrangement if possible.
  • Event Modification: In some cases, the event may proceed with modifications (e.g., venue change, adjusted schedule). Participants will be informed of any changes as soon as they are confirmed.

4. Safety Measures:

  • Location Changes: If the event moves to an indoor venue or alternative location, directions and details will be provided to all participants.
  • Weather-Related Safety: Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather conditions. The event organizers will have safety measures in place, including first aid and emergency contacts.

5. Communication:

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend: no penalty

Health and Safety Policy for Girls and Gears

1. Introduction

Girls and Gears is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all participants, staff, and volunteers. This Health and Safety Policy outlines the measures we will take to ensure the well-being of everyone involved in the event.

2. Pre-Event Measures

  • Medical Information: Participants are required to provide details of any medical conditions or dietary restrictions through the registration form. This information will be used to ensure appropriate accommodations and emergency procedures are in place.
  • Emergency Contacts: Participants must provide emergency contact information, which will be kept confidential and used only in case of an emergency.

3. On-Site Safety Procedures

  • First Aid: First aid kits will be available at the event venue, and staff members trained in first aid will be on-site. In the event of a medical emergency, immediate assistance will be provided, and emergency services will be contacted if necessary.
  • Safety Briefing: All participants will receive a safety briefing at the start of the event. This briefing will cover emergency procedures, the location of first aid kits, and general safety guidelines.
  • Health and Hygiene: Hand sanitizers will be available at key locations. Participants are encouraged to practice good hygiene, including frequent hand washing and the use of hand sanitizers.
