General Info

Cougar Bot Wars

Coaches,

Thank you for joining us for the 2nd annual Cougar Bot Wars! We will be following all rules and scoring requirements set by REC. 

Arrival 

Coleman is located at 1544 N. Governeour rd, Wichita, KS 67206. There are two main parking lots (north and south), please park in the south parking lot closest to the park. Feel free to park in the grass by the park or on Governeour street if the parking lot is full. DO NOT USE THE NORTH PARKING LOT FOR STUDENT DROP OFF. You will enter the gymnasium through door #23. It will be the only propped door by the south main entrance.

Spectators will need to enter the building from the Main Entrance on the North Side of the building and receive a Visitors Pass.

Lunch

We will be offering lunch for your students for $6. Students will receive two slices of pizza and a beverage. There will also be several other items at the concession stand throughout the day for you and your students to enjoy.

Skills Competition

We will have a dedicated skill field where each team will be given three opportunities for each: driver control and programming skills. The skills field will open at 8:45 and will be open until the end of lunch.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

Volunteer

Volunteers are welcome to assist.  We will provide training for those helping with the event. Student volunteers will be used for field reset.  Contact Jason West at [email protected] for more information.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In the event that an emergency or weather prohibits the tournament we will look to reschedule for the next day. If that is not possible, then teams will be reimbursed and the tournament will be cancelled. 

Refund and Payment Policies

No refund will be given if a team is absent or does not participate. Refunds can be given if a coach cancels registration of a team at least two days prior to tournament.  There is a $5 non-refundable charge to every team, no exceptions

Please have your tournament fees paid before competition on Saturday January, 13.

Health and Safety Policies

We will follow any health and safety guidelines required by Wichita Public Schools for this event. 

No grinding of parts or other actions that create sparks will be allowed in the gym.

Judging Format

All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
