General Info

Fisher Robotics welcomes you to the 2023-2024 Over/Under tournament.  This is a state qualifying event. Fisher Robotics has sponsored a Sock drive for the Veterans in our area in the past. We ask that if you are able to please donate a pack of new socks. We will have a sign in for this so that a thank you from the VA can be sent and shared. Fisher Robotics will handle turning in the items. Thank You for supporting our local vets.

Registration Information

All participating teams must be registered with VEX Robotics and the Robot Events website. Tournament fees must be paid before teams are allowed to compete. Registration and payments should be made through the Robot Events website.

Engineering notebooks

We will be collecting Physical engineering notebooks at this event for judging.

Lunch and Concessions

Concessions will be available from 8 am to 3 pm.  A lunch will be served Coffee is free. Drinks are allowed.

LATEX POLICY

Fisher has a limited latex free policy. We ask that you don't bring ballons into the school. 

Competition Preparation

All teams should come prepared for competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are prepared.

 

Review all game information: Current Game Webpage

  1. Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments. Robots must use VEX V5 parts. Please self inspect before arriving at the tournament using the V5 Robot Inspection Checklist

  2. Check the official VEX forums for rule updates and changes.

  3. Carefully read all of the information contained in the tournament posting on robotevents.com

  4. Pack for the event the day before the day of departure. Here are a few items that you don't want to forget.

    • Goggles/Safety Glasses

    • Spare parts & tools

    • Batteries and chargers

    • Power strip and extension cord

    • Laptop computer

    • Programming cable

    • Engineering notebook (Required for judged awards)

    • Banners and other decorations for your team pit table

    • Giveaways if you have them

  5. Be sure to read 101 Things You Should Know Before Your First VEX Tournament.

  6. Review the descriptions and criteria for the awards that are being given during the tournament.

  7. Prep for your interviews with the judges and read the Judge's Guide. Check the awards tab to see what awards will be given during the tournament.

  8. Remember that safety comes first, please be aware of  tools that pose a safety risk to your team, or others nearby, as teams are close to each other in the venue pit area. Also, Please refrain from grinding metal that creates sparks and debree. Ask the tournament host to use saw in their classroom if cutting is needed.

  9. Ensure that you have the latest version of programming software and firmware for your V5 Brain.

Participation and Consent Form

A completed form for all participants must be uploaded to robotevents.com prior to the tournament. Team leaders will need to check that all team members attending the event have completed the online consent form prior to the tournament.Please follow the provided Instructions on how to upload consent forms  VEX Consent Form (English)

Code of Conduct

This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

Notes:
1. Awards will be announced between elimination matches.
2. Please plan to arrive in time to pass inspection by 9:00 AM

Volunteer

If you can vollenteer please contact Mike Nielsen @ Robotics.fisher.k12.mn.us.  I will ask for assistance the day of the event to fill need positions. A meal will be provided for vollenteers 

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In case of bad weather this event may be cancelled.  Teams are advised to watch robotevents.com for weather related updates.   If the tournament must be cancelled or postponed, the name of the tournament will change to cancelled or postponed.  In the event of a cancellation or postponement, teams will be sent additional information via Email.  In the event of a cancellation, the registration fee will not be refunded.

No refunds will be given for this event if a team cancels

 

Judging Format

  • All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
