General Info

Registration Information

All participating teams must be registered with VEX Robotics and the Robot Events website and have an official team number before registering for this event. Tournament fees must be paid before teams are allowed to compete. Registration and payments should be made through the Robot Events website.

Lunch and Concessions

Full concessions will be available from 9 am to 3 pm. Lunch specials will be available on-site.

Competition Preparation

This event is sure to be a fast-paced and exciting event. All teams should come prepared for competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are prepared.
Game Rules: Tipping Point Game Manual
1. Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments. Robots must use VEX V5 parts. Please self inspect before arriving at the tournament using the V5 Robot Inspection Checklist
2. Check the official VEX forums for rule updates and changes.
3. Carefully read all of the information contained in the tournament posting on robotevents.com
4. Pack for the event the day before the day of departure. Here are a few items that you don't want to forget.
Goggles/Safety Glasses
Spare parts & tools
Batteries and chargers
Power strip and extension cord
Laptop computer
Programming cable
Engineering notebook (Required for judged awards)
Banners and other decorations for your team pit table
Giveaways if you have them
5. Be sure to read 101 Things You Should Know Before Your First VEX Tournament.
6. Review the descriptions and criteria for the awards that are being given during the tournament.
7. Prep for your interviews with the judges and read the Judge's Guide. Check the awards tab to see what awards will be given during the tournament.
8. Remember that safety comes first, please don't bring tools that pose a safety risk to your team, or others nearby, as teams are close to each other in the venue pit area. Also, remember no grinding or other actions that create sparks, ask the tournament director for a safe location if grinding is needed.
9. Ensure that you have the latest version of programming software and firmware for your V5 Brain.

Participation and Consent Form

A completed form for all participants must be uploaded to robotevents.com prior to the tournament. Team leaders will need to check that all team members attending the event have completed the online consent form prior to the tournament. Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In case of inclement weather, check the Event on Robot Events for further updates the night before the event date. In the event of cancellation we will try to reschedule.

Refund Policy

In case of inclement weather and the event is cancelled, registration fees received will be returned minus the $5.00 processing fee. If something happens and you are unable to attend the competition, please notify the primary contact through email or phone. Refunds for non-attendance will only be given if your cancellation notice is received no later than 1 week prior to the event date.

Health and Safety Policies

NOTE: Safety information will be updated in the early fall to reflect the current requirements for school in our area. It will likely involve less COVID restrictions than are listed below.

COVID Information

Face Coverings
Face coverings will be required for everyone, everywhere throughout the tournament, in the stands, pits, and at the fields. The mouth and nose should be fully covered at all times with a multi-layer covering.

Hand Sanitizer
Hand sanitizer will be available at various locations at the tournament venue. Teams and spectators are encouraged to bring their own sanitizer as well. Please use hand sanitizer frequently throughout the day particularly after leaving the competition field.

Concessions 
Some limited concessions will be available, but it is recommended that teams bring their own food and drink as well. All concession items will be wrapped and or sealed and will be sanitized.

Spectators
Spectators are allowed at this time, if that changes the team coaches will be notified. The tournament will be hosted in our main gym. Spectators should sit in social groups and leave space between groups. Please provide proper space between individuals when moving.

Team Health
Please monitor the health of your team. We trust that everyone keeps their teams informed of their health as related to COVID infection. Anyone with potential COVID symptoms or possible COVID exposure should not attend the tournament.

Pit Tables
We are accepting fewer teams than usual and will provide extra space between tables in the pit area and the walking areas from the pits to the competition field. We prefer multiple teams from the same organization so that organizations can have pit tables in social groupings. We will provide enough space so that there is proper spacing between team tables and a larger spacing between organizations. Individual teams will be grouped together at one table.

Competition Fields
We will be using two competition fields, one skills field, and NO practice field. Robots and drivers will need to arrive ready to compete. We will provide field resetters so that teams will not need to handle the game objects or reset the field. Preload objects will be sanitized before they are given to teams. When waiting in line for the skills field, teams must maintain proper physical distancing.

Changing Conditions
We might need to make adjustments to our event due to local and state COVID guidelines.  The team coaches will be notified of any changes as we get closer to the event.
