After the extended summer vacation we are excited to get back into the swing of things as best we can for this year. It is my pleasure on behalf of Groton Area Robotics to invite you to our October tournment! This is a good early oppertunity to try out your robots!! The event will be held in our "old gym" as usual. The doors are on the east side of the building. There will be a sign on the sidewalk. We have a few changes and things for this year because of COVID-19 that you will need to know about and consider:
MASKS: Face coverings will be required for everyone, everywhere throughout the tournament, in the stands, pits, and at the fields. No exceptions.
NO CONCESSIONS: Concessions will not be offered at the tournament. Coolers and snacks will be welcome. There is a Subway in town. Their phone # is 605-397-7827 if anyone would like to order subs ahead of time. There is a resturant called The Jungle that has Hot Stuff Pizza. Their # is 605-397-2606. We will have a menu at the school the morning of the tournament for anyone who is interested in pizza. And of course we always have Dairy Queen. As of now the dining room is still closed, but they are open for drive through. Their # is 605-397-8627 if anyone would like to make some prior arrangements with them. Because we aren't having concessions, we are planning on taking short break of no more than 30 min from about 12:00-12:30 for lunch, but we realize this is a long day, and whatever we add to it will only make it longer. Consensus among the coaches the day of the tournament will dictate how long the matches will stop for lunch. Be prepared.
SPECTATOR ATTENDANCE: Spectators are allowed at this time. Generally overcrowding isn't an issue at our facillity, but we do ask that spectators are conscious of keeping good social distance from other spectators not in your group.
LETS WORK TOGETHER: Please help to monitor the health of your own teams and robotists. We, and the rest of the teams there, are going to trust that everyone keeps an open dialague amongst the members of their clubs and spectators to make sure that everyone knows that if you don't feel well, or know you've been exposed, don't chance it. Stay home.
KEEP IN MIND: We might need to make adjustments to our event due to local and state COVID-19 guidelines. You will be notified of any changes as we get closer to the event.
We aren't in need of volunteers.
