Field: If your team has a portable field and full game element set, please contact me! We can make arrangements to take care of one of your team's registration costs in lieu of borrowing one field for a practice or skills field.
All teams Must have payment completed Prior to the start of the competition! Teams that have not paid will be moved to the waitlist!
Awards:
All Excellence winners will get $400 Cash
All the non-state qualifying awards: build, judges, Sportsmanship, Ect… will be given out event wide, (V5RC MS & V5RC HS can qualify)
There is a booth design award and Coach of the year award!
Skills and Match Fields will be raised (2 feet off the ground)

In the event the tournament has to be canceled due to emergency/bad weather, the tournament will be rescheduled.

Judging Format
Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions & In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents.

Southern Showdown Robotics Competition Policies

Service Animal Policy: NO animals are allowed at Southern Showdown except for Service Animals. Specifically, a Service Animal means any dog that is trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. Pets providing emotional support, well-being, comfort or companionship are not recognized as service animals under ADA Regulations.

No Public Wifi Available. Wifi interferes with the technology needed to run matches and will not be available within the venue.

No Permitless Carry
Pursuant to section 30.05, penal code (criminal trespass), a person may not enter this property with a firearm. -
Concealed Handguns Prohibited
Pursuant to section 30.06, penal code (trespass by holder of license to carry a concealed handgun), a person licensed under subchapter H, chapter 411, government code (concealed handgun law), may not enter this property with a concealed handgun. -
Openly Carried Handguns Prohibited
Pursuant to section 30.07, penal code (trespass by license holder with an openly carried handgun), a person licensed under subchapter H, chapter 411, government code (handgun licensing law), may not enter this property with a handgun that is carried openly.

Teams May Decorate Their Pit Area:

Only tape is permitted to affix decor to the pit area.
Each team gets a 10x10 booth. -
The pits are constructed of pipe and drape. Any items brought to the event must fit inside this area, including practice fields.

Pipe and drape can't be removed. Pits may not be combined (structural + safety issues)

1 table, and 2 chairs, will be provided per team.

These items, plus any items the team brings must be contained within the pit at all times per Fire Marshall policy and security

All items to be used in pit (example: Chairs, tables) must remain in pit area.

Pit Areas Are Not Secure. Please be mindful of your belongings. VEX Robotics, The REC Foundation, or Southern Showdown are not responsible for missing or lost items.
