General Info

Thank you for your interest in the VEX V5 Robotics Competition Blended High Stakes Tournament hosted by Hudsonville Robotics!  This will be our 7th year hosting and we look forward to a fun and collaborative event.

Facility - The competition will be hosted in the main gym of Hudsonville High School conveniently located one mile north of I-196 just west of Grand Rapids, Mi. Ample parking is available on campus and there are also plenty of resturants and retail locations in the area.

Competition - Teams will participate in qualification matches, skills events, judging in the pits, and elimination matches if qualified.  We will be following the rules in the latest release of the VEX Robotics Competition – Game Manual

Judging - We will be collecting physical engineering notebooks at the start of this event for in-person judging. We will not be able to print notebooks for teams.

Pits - 6-foot tables, two chairs, electrical outlet, and public WIFI will be provided. We encourage teams to bring a plug strip.

Food - Teams are welcome to bring their own food, unfortunatley we will not have a concession stand this year. We will take pizza orders at registration $15 cash for a 14" pizza. We will place the order and have it delivered on time for lunch.

Registration - All participating teams must be registered with VEX Robotics and the Robot Events website and have an official team number before registering for this event. Tournament fees must be paid before teams are allowed to compete. Registration and payments should be made through the Robot Events website.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

Volunteer

We have various positions for volunteers ranging from high school age to adult for novice to expierienced volunteers. We will be posting a volunteer signup web page in late September.

We do prefer to have official roles represented from multiple organizations attending our tournament. Teams like to see their own volunteers as referees and judges, as it demonstrates a better level of fairness.  If you have a qualified volunteer that can offer their time for this event, then please email us at [email protected].

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

In case of bad weather conditions or possible cancellations please visit this page on Robotevents.com where we will post updates about the event status as needed.

Refund and Payment Policies

Refunds are available for the full amount minus the $5 RECF fee to teams that cancel at least two weeks prior to the event date.  Refunds can be held until initial payment is confirmed and reconciled.
