It's Turkey Time!

Sunburst Elementary invites you to join us for our VEX IQ Robotics Competition "Rapid Relay" Turkey Trot for MIDDLE SCHOOL Teams!

We are welcoming 30 teams to our school to compete. We will run a full event with both Teamwork and Skills Challenges. This will be a qualifier for the Utah State Championship!*

Please note that we will NOT be accepting physical Engineering Notebooks for judging at this event. All notebook sumissions should be submitted digitally no later than 6:00pm on Friday, November 15, 2024. No engineering notebooks will be judged on the day of the event.

*Qualifying criteria must be met.

Concessions will be available to purchase at the event. All proceeds from the concessions will go to our VEX Robotics program to support and grow our program. Cash, Venmo, and card are accepted as of this time.

 

Afternoon Event:

  • 1:00 pm - 1:50 pm Team Set-up, Check-in, & Inspection
  • 2:00 pm - 2:15 pm Drivers’ meeting
  • 2:20 pm - 4:20 pm Teamwork Challenges (6 matches for each team)
  • 4:30 pm - 4:50 pm Finals Matches
  • 4:50 pm - 5:00 pm Awards
  • 2:15pm - 4:00 pm Skills Challenges*/Judging**

*Each team will be allowed 3 skills runs for both Driver Skills and Autonomous Skills.

**Judging will include judging for the Excellence, Design, and Innovate Awards. Teams wanting to be eligible for these awards, must submit a link to their digital engineering notebook no later than 6:00pm on Friday, November 15, 2024. 

If we have all teams checked in and inspected prior to 1:50, we will move the driver meeting up and begin the tournament and open Skills fields for competition.

Code of Conduct

Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy

If weather makes traveling dangerous for teams, please stay home. If we must cancel the tournament due to dangerous weather situations, we will re-schedule if possible. As much notice due to inclement weather will be given as possible.

Refund and Payment Policies

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

-Refunds are given on a case-by-case basis, minus the $5.00 non-refundable RobotEvents fee. Please contact the event partner for more informationas needed.

If the Event Partner cancels the event:

-Due to weather we will work to reschedule the event or transfer your registration to another event.

-Due to insufficient team registrations, we will transfer your registration to another event.

Health and Safety Policies

The Sunburst Elementary VIQRC Rapid Relay "Turkey Trot" Middle School Tournament information may be updated as the event comes closer. Please check back for updates.

A Message from REC:  All approved events and event attendees are required to follow all local, state, federal, or any other government ordinances regarding health and safety procedures, social distancing, and best hygiene practices. Event hosts should continually assess, based on current government guidelines, whether to postpone, cancel, or significantly reduce the number of attendees when necessary, and to communicate as necessary with any registered attendees at said event.

Judging Format

Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: 

Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event.

Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. All submissions must be made by 6:00pm on Friday, November 15, 2024.
