General Info
Welcome to: The Monroe County Fair Rapid Relay VIQRC MI Kickoff.
The Monroe County Fair event will be operating for the ninth time. This is the kickoff event for MI VIQRC tournament competitions. Did you know that over 80% of the teams attending the Monroe County Fair event go on to compete in respective state championships? Teams also move to other championships establishing abilities in head-to-head competitions. Watch this space for updates as they become available. This is the first stop on the way to the 2024 World Championship in Dallas TX.
Admission to the fair (for the team members and one mentor/coach) is included with the team registration. Our event ends by 4:00 p.m., and the fair is open 'til 11:00 p.m. For more about the fair schedule see this page: http://monroecountyfair.com/saturday-august-6th Unlimited rides on the midway is $30.
Registration Information
All participating teams must be registered with VEX Robotics and the Robot Events website and have an official team number before registering for this event. Tournament fees must be paid before teams are allowed to compete. Registration and payments should be made through the Robot Events website.
Engineering notebooks
We will be collecting online engineering notebooks at this event for judging. Due by July 28, 2024.
Lunch and Concessions
It's the fair! From chili-cheese fries to cotton candy, corn dogs to elephant ears, there are food vendors of all types. Feel free to bring your own, too, as there are no restrictions on "outside food."
Elimination Matches
Up to 24 teams will participate in elimination matches. All elimination matches will be best of 1
Competition Preparation
All teams should come prepared for competition. Here are a few steps that every team should take to ensure that they are prepared.

Review the rules and run through the inspection checklist about a week before the competition so that there is ample time for adjustments. Robots must use VEX IQ parts. Please self inspect before arriving at the tournament using the Full Volume Robot Inspection Checklist

Be sure to read VEX Tournaments 101.

Prep for your interviews with the judges and read the Judge's Guide. Check the awards tab to see what awards will be given during the tournament.

Remember that safety comes first, please don't bring tools that pose a safety risk to your team, or others nearby, as teams are close to each other in the venue pit area. Also, remember no grinding or other actions that create sparks, ask the tournament director for a safe location if grinding is needed.

Ensure that you have the latest version of programming software and firmware for your IQ Brain.
Participation and Consent Form
A completed form for all participants must be uploaded to robotevents.com prior to the tournament. Team leaders will need to check that all team members attending the event have completed the online consent form prior to the tournament. Agenda
7:00a.m.-9:00 a.m.Teams Arrive
Teams arrive using the MBT building entrance (B-Gate) on the corner of Custer and Raisinville. They will get the entry passes (unless already received by email) and move into the competition area through B-gate. Teams can be off-loaded and then drivers will proceed through the fairgrounds to D-gate (a map will be provided), get hand stamp for re-entry, and proceed to parking.
Teams arriving after 9:00 a.m. will need to arrive at Customer lot and walk in with robot and all equipment in through the fair.
7:00-11:00 Inspection and skills are open as soon as teams arrive. Teams can run skills on the competition field(s) until opening ceremonies.
11:00 a.m. (approximately) opening ceremonies. National Anthem plays throughout the fairgrounds on the PA system.
11:15 a.m. Qualification matches begin
1:30 p.m.Lunch. Continue Skills on competition field(s) if needed.
2:00 p.m Elimination matches begin
3:30 p.m. Awards
4:00 p.m. Clean-up and good-bye. Teams may bring vehicles onto the grounds between 5 and 6 (or walk out with stuff earlier).

Emergency/Bad Weather Policy
All reasonable efforts will be made to inform teams of any cancellations due to inclement weather. Refunds will be given in event of cancellation.
Please contact me if weather is a concern and please monitor the event status on Robot Events.com Cancellations will be posted there.
Refund and Payment Policies
Full refunds will be granted in the event of a cancellation due inclement weather.
Refunds minus $5 RECF fee if coach cancels before event day.
No refunds for no-shows on event day.

From U.S. 23
Take the M-50 exit at Dundee. Take M-50 (also known as South Custer Road) east approximately 12 miles. The fairground entrance is on the right just past Raisinville Road.
From I-75
Exit at LaPlaisance Road, Exit 11. Go west to Dunbar Road. Turn left on Dunbar, going about 7-10 miles to Raisinville Road, where you turn right. Continue north on Raisinville to South Custer Road. Turn right, and the entrance to the fairgrounds is on the right.
