2422: Innovate Award Submission for League Events

Given that League events can be spread over the course of several months and the iterative nature of the engineering design process, if a team were to use several different versions of a robot could they submit an element of their design/strategy from their first robot version that is no longer a part of their final design/strategy (assuming that the judging occurs on the final day of the league). Relevant section from the Guide to Judging:

Teams identify a specific section or specific pages in their notebook covering the origin and development of a single design element, strategy, or other attribute that is a key part of their team’s robot design or gameplay that is in use at the event.

To make slightly less abstract, a team submits for their Innovate award Widget A which they used at the first League day. By the last League day (e.g. the day of judging) Widget A is no longer a part of their robot.

In the case of leagues, judging must occur close to or on the date of the League Finals. If a feature of the robot is not in use for the League Finals, it would not be considered as a viable feature to be submitted for the Innovate Award. In that instance, the Innovate submission would not be consistent with the qualities demonstrated in the team interview and the design of the robot present at the time of judging.
