RPI Pipeline Initiatives and the RPI Robotics Club is proud to host the RPI 2024 VEX Robotics Competition Over Under Tournament on the Troy, New York campus, on Monday, January 15, 2024. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, founded in 1824, and celebrating it's bicentennial in 2024, is America's first technological research university. We look forward to presenting this tournament opportunity for engaged and excited high school students who are passionate about science and technology as evidenced by the time and energy they put into the engineering design process to build competitive robots!
The tournament will take place on the main campus in the Darrin Communication Center (DCC).
FOOD OPTIONS: Teams may pre-order 12-cut cheese and pepperoni pizzas to be delivered directly to their pits, and concessions will be available for purchase! Contact the Event Manager by January 12 if you would like to order pizzas in advance. Payment will be due at check-in by cash or check..

Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

Voluntario
Volunteers are requested for field reset, as referrees, judges, and other positions on the day of the competition. Experience is preferred for some positions, but not for all!! In addtion, we are looking for volunteers for set up on Sunday, Jan, 14, and for take-down on the evening of Jan 15. To indicate your volunteer interest, please complete this short form by January 6.
All volunteers will receive an event t-shirt, lunch, and an abundance of thanks!
SPECIAL VOLUNTEER REQUEST for up to two teams: Volunteer to bring your field and field set, and we will waive your registration fee!
Política de emergencia/mal tiempo
In the event of a freezing rain, sleet or snow emergency, the event may be cancelled. Should this be necessary, the decision will be made between 12 noon on Sunday, Jan 14, and 6 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15. All registrants will be emailed in this timeframe with weather advisories or cancellation notification.
Refund and Payment Policies
If the Event Partner cancels the event:
For Inclement Weather: Due to the costs associated with the event, we will not be able to refund registration fees. However, your registration fee will be applied to your team's registration at the 2025 Rensselaer VRC Tournament!
If the event is cancelled before January 6 for any reason, all registration fees will be returned.
If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:
Registration fees will be returned in full for withdrawels through January 6. After January 6, registration fees will not be returned.
Health and Safety Policies
Rensselaer welcomes minors on campus to attend classes or to participate in activities specifically
scheduled and designed for their benefit as part of a Rensselaer
Sponsored Event or a Rensselaer Sponsored Program - such as the VEX Robotics Tournament!. However, children/minors are not allowed in high-risk areas under any
circumstances such as: laboratories, shops, studios, mechanical
rooms, power plants, garages, food preparation areas, or any
areas containing power tools or machinery with exposed moving
parts.
Rensselaer requires that parents or guardians of minors attending programs review and submit the Assumption, Release and Indemnity Agreement to participate in all sanctioned events. Download this and have the parents or guardians of each team participant review and sign the form. These should be turned in by the Team Coach at Check-In on Jan. 15.
Adherence to the VEX Code of Conduct, as well as obeying safety signs (e.g., NO RUNNING!) should keep everyone safe.
On-site First Aid will be available in the event of minor injuries. In the event of a more serious injury, Samaritan Hospital is 1/8 mile away from the event venue.

RPI TV will broadcast the event on their YouTube Channel beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Judging Format
- All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.
