Información general

This is an in-person competition at the beautiful main campus of the University of New Haven in the Beckerman Recreation Center. Lunch for the teams is included in the registration fee (1 pizza and five sodas per registered team). In-person juding for awards. Admissions will be available to answer your questions during the qualification rounds.

If your team has already qualified for finals, please be consiterate of other teams and allow them priority as this is last qualifier of the season.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

Agenda

7:00 AM

  • Doors open – load in by teams, practice field use is first come first serve. 10 minute turns please. Engineering Notebooks Due to Info Desk by 9 am.

8:30 AM

  • Opening Ceremony with the University of New Haven.
  • Please stand for the National Anthem.

8:45 AM

  • Qualification Rounds begin. Engineering Notebooks Due, not accepted after 9 am.
  • Skills Challenge begin.

11:15 AM & 11:30 AM

  • Lunch for teams – one pizza & 5 sodas per registered team available in Team Checkin.

           Parents and guests, lunch is available for purchase at the concession stand in the lobby. Other lunch options include Subway (arcoss the street) and Moe's Southwest Grill in the building nextdoor.

1:00 pm

  • Elimination Rounds begin
  • Skills Challenge closes

3:30 pm

  • Closing Ceremony with Awards and Scholarship.
  • Please stay until the end of the Awards Ceremony (approximately 30 minutes).

There is no snow date for this event. The decision to cancel due to inclement weather will be made by 2/7/24 at 12 noon.

Refund and Payment Policies

REFUND POLICY:
Refunds will be avialble to teams that request cancellation of registration 7 or more day prior to the event. No other refunds will be processed.

Arriving late after 8:30 will result in disqualification without a refund.

If the event is cancelled due to Weather or other issue, refunds will be processed by the University of New Haven. 

$5 processing fee collected by REC Foundation will be deducted from all refunds

Refund requests need to be emailed to [email protected]. (Refunds can take up to a month to process)

 

Judging Format

All In-Person Judging - The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.

We will not accept digital copies of the notebooks. Please print before arriving.
