Información general
The West Michigan Robotics Event Partners have joined together to run the fifth annual "Mega League" where up to 115 teams can register to complete. Area event partners will host 20+ league nights over eight weeks and then top ranked teams will compete in separate state qualifying HS and MS finals tournaments.
The significance of the Mega League is it allows teams to gain competition experience before the Saturday tournaments start. Making a mistake at a league session is much less costly to a team's success. Students will learn from watching others to help them optimise their robot design, work in the pits away from their home court, understand the field control system, gain strategy experience, and build relationships by collaborating with other teams.
** 2024 League Session Dates **
With over 20 league session dates, this is a GREAT value to all teams.
Session selection will open on September 15 on a first come, first served basis. Registered teams will be emailed the information to select their session dates and a schedule will be published online. (Note: Bulk date selection can be done for larger organizations - simply email [email protected] for a spreadsheet template.)

Mega League Rules
<MLR01> We will follow all competition rules of the latest game Manual.
<MLR02> Teams may request to compete on more nights. Teams with less than four nights selected will be given preference otherwise it’s based on first request.
<MLR03> Schedule change requests must be submitted at least 24 hours before a league night.
<MLR04> Some event dates are reserved for middle school teams, noted at MS Only.
<MLR05> This specific event will not have awards. The top 24 qualified teams from each age group will be invited to the Mega Leage finals (more details below).
Skills
<MLS01> Skills will be offered starting at session 10. Teams will be allowed a maximum of three drivers skills and three programming skills per league night as time permits.
Mega League Finals - Qualifications
<MLF01> There will be separate invitational finals event for both middle and high school teams.
<MLF02> The top 24 teams from each age group will be invited based on the combined ranking (by average win points/match) of all of the league nights as determined by the Vex Tournament Manager software.
<MLF03> To qualify for the finals, teams are required to compete in at least four league sessions.
<MLF04> To qualify for the finals, teams must also compete at least once in each Session Block (A,B,C). The session calendar is split into three blocks.
<MLF05> The finals will be scheduled across two nights. All league scores will be reset. The first night will have five qualification rounds and skills, the second night will have two qualification rounds, skills, elimination alliance selection, elimination rounds, and awards.
Finals
The HS event championship finals will be held at Grandville Robotics Center on Mon, Nov 18 & and Tue, Nov 19.
The MS event championship finals will be held at Hudsonville High School on Mon, Nov 25 & and Tue, Nov 26.
Volunteering
League sessions are a great opportunity for volunteers (queue, referee, scorekeepers, technology) to learn and gain experience before the tournament season starts. Click on the Volunteer tab for more information.

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.
For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

Voluntario
The significance of the Mega League is it allows teams to gain competition experience before the Saturday tournaments start. Making a mistake at a league session is much less costly to a teams' success. Students will learn to optimise their robot design, work in the pits, connect to the field control system, and collaborate with other teams. If their robot breaks down, its less of an impact on thier team performance.
This concept also applies to the event volunteers. Each event session is smaller with just 20 teams and they only last for 3 hours. Adults who are new to Vex Robotics tournaments will be paired with those that have more experience. It's also an activity where adults can be involved and get a front row view of the action.
If you want to learn how to set up, operate the scoring system, keep score, reset the field, run a skills field - this is your time to learn before the full Saturday tournaments start. You do not need to be a technical person to volunteer for the robotics events.
Contact the Event Partner at your session to offer to help.
Política de emergencia/mal tiempo
In case of bad weather conditions or possible cancellations please visit this page on Robotevents.com or www.hudsonvillerobotics.com where updates will be posted about the event status as needed.
Refund and Payment Policies
All requests for refunds must be made 3 weeks prior to the event. Refunds, if approved, will be processed within 2 months following the event.
Event payments are expected when you register for the event and must be completed (showing PAID) a min of three weeks prior to the first session date. Unpaid teams will be removed from the event to allow teams on my wait list to register. Please contact [email protected] or any event partner if there are special considerations that need to be made.
Judging Format
Non-Judged
This league is designed to help teams gain competition experience and inspire iterative improvements to their robot design. We highly recommend they track their progress and document their plans in their engineering notebook. With that said, this event will not have judging during the league or the finals invitationals.
Note: Session EPs may offer opportunitities for mentors to review student notebooks and perform mock interviews to give students practice with judging.
Waitlist
2 teams are on the waitlist for this event.
