Welcome to the VIQC Robotics Canada Cup Canadian Open Championship. This is the inaugural Canadian Open and we’re excited to host some of the best VEX Robotics teams in the World to challenge for the Robotics Canada Cup. We hope you can join us!
This is your chance to play Squared Away one last time for a chance to be the first to win the VIQC Robotics Canada Cup.
The event will be held on May 23rd, 2020. The registration fee is $150.00 per team. Early Bird registration, if paid before Friday, April 13th, 2020, is $125.00 per team. Please be advised that Robot Events does not provide the means to offer discounted fees. Your email will say $150.00. We will take care of the accoounting.
Please make cheques payable to West Vancouver School District #45 Robotics and mail them to West Vancouver Secondary School, 1750 Mathers Avenue, West Vancouver, BC V7V 2G7, Canada.
The tournament is hosted at West Vancouver Secondary School, West Vancouver, BC, Canada. West Vancouver Secondary School has a long tradition of offering first class academic programs, including the world renowned International Baccalaureate program. We provide an environment in which students entrusted to our care gain self-confidence, recognize their self-worth, and become life-long learners and responsible citizens.
Team registration is open to any team who participated in a 2019/20 VIQC Squared Away event. Once registered, you will have two (2) weeks to pay your registration fee. Teams that do not pay within 2 weeks will be moved to the wait list. Any team on the wait list will be invited to attend. If teams are invited off the wait list they will be notified.
Please note that if there is enough demand, the team registraton cap will be increased.
NOTE: Please be flexible as the schedule may change slightly on event day.

The VEX IQ events cannot be run successfully without the numerous volunteers who dedicate their time and talents to make it run smoothly.
We need volunteers for Registration, Robot Inspectors, Queuers, Photographers, Judges, Referees, and Tournament Managers.

In the event of an emergency or bad weather teams will be notifed by email and text messages. Please make sure your contact information is correct in Robot Events.
Should the event be cancelled, registration fees will be refunded to all teams in full.
If a team has to cancel, a full refund will be given if you cancel before May 9, 2020. No refunds for cancellations after May 9, 2020.

The event is held in one of the two main gyms at the school. Please park on Mathers Avenue in front of the school, head in the main doors to the main stairwell and go down one floor. Then turn left, now heading east, (past the cafeteria), towards the gyms. The gym on the right, or south (referred to as the old gym) will be what we use for the tournament.
If teams wish to help by bringing a practice field please contact Todd Ablett (firstname.lastname@example.org) as we can make sure we leave enough space for this and consider it in your registration cost.

This season the STEM Research Project is presented as a 4-minute video plus 15 seconds of credits that the team records and uploads to SchoolTube, YouTube, or a similar online video platform. A link to the video must be submitted to the Event Partner no later than ONE WEEK BEFORE the tournament date. Follow these steps:
