The official VEX V5 Robotics Competition Question & Answer system has closed for this season.
Prior to start of a match is it legal to use a short autonomous program to position the robot before the match. Example of a program used; turning 45 degrees and moving a 1-10 inches.
If legal, are their any factors that would make this movement before a match illegal? Example, excessive movement of 10 seconds and/or moving 5 feet.

There are no rules that explicitly prohibit this, however Teams should keep rule <T6> in mind, particularly clauses B & C,
b. Robots must be placed on the Field promptly. Repeated failure to do so could result in a Violation of G1. The exact definition of the term “promptly” is at the discretion of the Head Referee and Event Partner, who will consider event schedule, previous warnings or delays, etc.
c. If a Robot is delaying the scheduled start of a Match, it may be removed from the Field at the discretion of the Head Referee and Event Partner. A Drive Team Member may remain at the Field so that the Team does not get assessed a “no-show” (per T5).
