2340: SG7 clarification about central rings

2-Dec-2024

The note under rule <SG7> states that

Scoring Objects and Wall Stakes that contact or are positioned above the Autonomous Line are not considered to be on either side, and may be utilized by either Alliance during the Autonomous Period.

If scoring object begins the match such that it is partially inside of the volume defined by the vertical projection of the autonomous line, is it considered to be "positioned above the Autonomous Line" regardless of its status as contacting the line? Specifically, while the mobile goal that begins on the autonomous line on the half of the field containing both positive corners clearly "contacts" the autonomous line and is thus subject to the note under SG7, does the note also apply to the entire central group of 8 rings that begins on the autonomous line on the half of the field containing both negative corners? Since all 8 of these rings begin the match in a position where they all are partially inside of the vertical projection of the autonomous line and thus can be interpreted to be "positioned above the Autonomous Line", is it legal for a red robot to use a mechanism to reach across the autonomous line in order to obtain the 2 red rings in the stack that are closer to the blue alliance station given that the robot never violates any other aspects of SG7 (such as contacting field tiles on the other side of the autonomous line)?
