Welcome to Camp Code!  Brought to you by the REC Foundation and sponsered by the Texas Workforce Commission.

We hope your students are looking forward to an exciting week of learning about robotics, coding, and building!  We will be learning with the VEX 123 and GO platforms and at the conclusion of the camp, your student will be able to take home the 123 robot they had been working with!

When registering, please know that it is an innitial application, not an immediate registration.  This camp is completly FREE for your students and lunch will be provided for the students.

Please note that drop off is from 8:30am-9am and pickup will be from 2:45pm-3pm.

By registering for this camp, you and your student are agreeing to the Camper Expectations listed in the Camper Expectations tab.

Each day will be unique, starting the beginning of the week with programming the 123 robot and going over building and coding the GO robot.  For more information regarding these platforms, please check out VEXRobotics.com

If incliment weather occurs, we will make every attempt to continue for the day.  Please decide if weather is too hazerdous for you to drive your student and call and let us know.

If camp for one day were to be cancelled, every attempt will be made to email out the evening before, or if absolutely necessary emailed the morning of.

Every attempt will be made to condence the curriculum to make up for any missed days.

Refund and Payment Policies

Camp is free for participants.

 

Camper Expectations

 

CAMP CODE is designed to be a fun, inclusive, and educational experience for every child who attends. Students will leave with a better understanding of robotics, coding, problem solving, and teamwork.

We will be implimenting a three strike system. The first time we have to warn a student regarding behavior is considered the first strike.  The second strike will be a phone call to parents.  The third strike will be a call to have you pick up your student.  If behavior is agregious, we reserve the right to call and have the student picked up without any warnings.

 

By registering for CAMP CODE, participants agree to uphold the Camper Expectations listed below:

 

Respect Yourself

  • Be on your best behavior

  • Use school-appropriate language

  • Keep hands to yourself

  • Stay focused

  • Make good choices

  • Report suspicious behavior

 

Respect Each Other

  • Use the Golden Rule - treat others the way you want to be treated

  • Only use things that belong to you, or ask permission to borrow

  • Help others when you can

  • Work collaboratively and give everyone a chance to participate

  • Be on time - arrive and depart at the time listed on the event schedule

 

Respect the Robots

  • Use parts and pieces for their intended purpose

  • All materials stay at Camp

  • Keep track of your materials

  • Put materials away when you’re finished with them

 

Respect the Venue

  • Maintain a clean workspace and tidy up after yourself 

  • Stay in the designated Camp area

  • Use walking feet

  • Follow building rules

 

Respect the Rules

  • Children who choose not to follow the rules will be given one verbal warning

  • On the second offense, the child’s parent/guardian will be called

  • On the third offense, the child will be sent home with a parent/guardian.

  • Egregious behavior or repeated offenses may result in the child being removed from the Camp
