Allgemeine information

The 2023-2024 Edmonton Vex VRC Over Under In Person Qualifying Tournament will be held in the large gym at Archbishop Jordan Catholic High School.

There is room for 32 teams and we will have a two competition fields, and a skills/practice field. 

Each team will have the opportunity to complete in the Robot Skills Challenge.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

Agenda

Tentative Agenda

7:30am: Doors open. Event in located in the large gym.  Come in the front doors, and walk straight into the gymnasium. Check-in and go to designated pit area based on your team number. 

8:00am – 9:00am: Tech inspection. Copies of inspection sheets will be provided. 

9:00am – 9:15am: Driver’s meeting and Q&A .

9:30am – 11:45am: Qualification matches. 

11:45am – 1:00pm: Lunch Break. There are many businesses across the street in which to get food, including Edo, Opa, Quiznos, Popeye’s Southern Fried Chicken, McDonalds, and Blaze Pizza.

1:00pm – 2:00pm: Resume qualification matches. 

2:15pm – 2:45pm: Alliance Selection. 

2:45pm – 4:15pm: Playoffs.

4:30pm – 5:30pm : Clean-up.

If the event has to be cancelled due to weather, registarnts will be notified and funds will be reimbursed. Please make sure your contact information is current in Robot Events.

In case of an emergency while on site all safety protocols will be adhered to. 

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event:  all team payments will be refunded

 

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend: Archbishop Jordan Catholic High School is unable to refund money to teams that are unable to attend.  We will arrange a credit toward the next tournament at ABJ High School if we are given two weeks notice.

Parking in the EAST LOT, NOT THE POOL PARKING LOT. Additionally, you can also park in the student overflow parking lot adjacent to Emerald Drive. Enter through the main school entrance, at the north of the school facing Emerald Hills Shopping Center. Once in the school, walk straight into the large gym.

Judging Format

  •  Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation  via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. A submission deadline that may be scheduled ahead of the event date.
