Allgemeine information

Welcome to the Newcomers Over Under Tournament @ Green Valley.

All High School and Middle School teams are invited to this small, early season Tournament on October 7th, 2023.   This tournament is open to all, but designed to give newer teams and rookies a chance to experience tournament style competition.  We will help teams get through the inspection process, match scheduling, queuing, alliance selection, and Robot Skills Challenges. There will be no Judging or Judged Awards offered at this Newcomers event.

The final iteration of a competition robot isn't built on day one.  Robot designs change and game play strategy evolves throughout the season.  This year's game,  Over Under, will be dynamic and exciting.  Teams can bring their original designs or even just working drivetrain, this year's Herobot Striker, or standard clawbot to play Over Under and experience the thrill of VEX Robotics Competitions!

Each team will get 6 qualification matches to build rank for alliance selection, followed by eliminations and Finals.

Parking is available at the school.   On-site concessions and Pizza for lunch will be available for purchase.

Be sure that consent forms for all attendees are uploaded.  The form can be found here: REC Foundation Participant Release Form (smartwaiver.com)

Payment:  All teams must pay online by Sept 23, 2023 at 11:59pm or that team will be dropped.
Only on-line payments will be accepted.

If you have any questions about this event, please contact Andy Agan at [email protected].

Health and Safety Policies

Health and Safety Policies

NOTE: Safety information will be updated in the early fall to reflect the current requirements for schools in our area.

COVID Information

Face Coverings
Face coverings will be optional for everyone, everywhere throughout the tournament, in the stands, pits, and at the fields.

Hand Sanitizer
Hand sanitizer will be available at various locations at the tournament venue. Teams and spectators are encouraged to bring their own sanitizer as well. Please use hand sanitizer frequently throughout the day particularly after leaving the competition field.

Concessions
Concessions will be available.

Spectators
Spectators are allowed at this time, if that changes the team coaches will be notified.

Team Health
Please monitor the health of your team. We trust that everyone keeps their teams informed of their health as related to COVID infection. Anyone with potential COVID symptoms or possible COVID exposure should not attend the tournament.

Pit Tables
We will provide extra space between tables in the pit area and the walking areas from the pits to the competition field. We prefer multiple teams from the same organization so that organizations can have pit tables in social groupings. We will provide enough space so that there is proper spacing between team tables and a larger spacing between organizations. Individual teams will be grouped together at one table.

Competition Fields
We will be using two competition fields, one skills field, and one practice field. Robots and drivers will need to arrive ready to compete.

Changing Conditions
We might need to make adjustments to our event due to local and state COVID guidelines.  The team coaches will be notified of any changes as we get closer to the event.

Judging Format

There will be no judging or Engineering Notebook collection at this event.
