Battle of the Bay (BOTB) is an exciting VEX robotics tournament featuring qualification matches, skills challenges, and elimination rounds, with awards for top teams. It’s a full-day event with opportunities to compete against other skilled teams, improve your robot’s performance, and showcase your strategy. The event includes a lunch break and wraps up with an awards ceremony. BOTB offers a well-organized experience with a supportive volunteer team, live streaming, and concessions available. Join us for a competitive and fun day of robotics!

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

8:00 AM - Doors open, check in begins

8:15 AM - Inspection begins, practice field opens

9:45 AM - Inspection closes, drivers meeting

10:00 AM - Qualification matches begin, skills opens

12:30 PM - Lunch break, qualification matches pause

1:30 PM - Qualification matches resume

4:00 PM - Qualification matches end

4:15 PM - Alliance selections, skills closes

4:30 PM - Elimination matches begin

6:00 PM - Awards ceremony

6:30 PM - Doors close

In the case of bad weather conditions, an emergency, or possible cancellations, please visit the event website on Robotevents.com where updates regarding the event status will be posted as needed.  Please make sure your team contact information is up to date on Robotevents.com in case we need to contact your team.

Refund and Payment Policies

Event payments are expected when you register for this event and must be completed (showing PAID in the system) a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the event date. 

Unpaid teams will be removed from the event, allowing space for teams on the waitlist. No refunds will be made once a team is marked PAID in the system.  Please contact Shalini Suravarjjala ([email protected]) if you have any questions or concerns. 

Judging Format

Digital Engineering Notebook Submissions / In Person Team Interviews: Team interviews will be conducted in-person at the event. Engineering notebooks will be submitted digitally for evaluation  via a link found within the "My Account" panel of the team contact on RobotEvents. A submission deadline that may be scheduled ahead of the event date.
