Welcome to the 2025 Elementary VIQRC State Championship!

Congratulations on qualifying to the Illinois State Championship! This event requires that you qualify at a regional Illinois event. This Championship is a qualifier for VEX World Championships. This tournament will have in-person judged awards, Teamwork Matches, and Driving & Programming Skills Challenge.

Illinois VEX IQ – Elementary School has been granted 1 World Championship spot:

1 Excellence Award Winner - Elementary School

World Championship qualifying awards and invitations are issued to teams whether or not the teams have expressed an intention to attend the event. Unaccepted World Championship invitations are not offered or transferred to other teams.

Registration Fee

Please process payment for registered teams as soon as possible. All payments for entry fees MUST be made in advance.

Concessions

Concessions will not be offered at this event. Due to the nature of the facility, we request only a water bottle be brought in with you.

Walk-up Teams & Walk-Up Skills

Walk-up teams WILL NOT be permitted to compete, either in the tournament or to run Skills Only. There are no exceptions. If your team wishes to compete, they must register before the registration deadline.

Code of Conduct

The REC Foundation considers the positive, respectful, and ethical conduct of teams to be an essential component of the competition. Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner, and to operate as student-centered teams with limited adult assistance. This includes all students, teachers, coaches, mentors, parents, and spectators associated with a team.

For more details, please refer to the REC Foundation Code of Conduct and Student-Centered Policy. If you have concerns about compliance with the Code of Conduct, please speak to the Event Partner during the event.

Agenda

Agenda is tentative and subject to change.

IMPORTANT! We are on an extremely tight schedule. If your team will be late, you must call the Event Partner (Primary Contact on the General Info tab). If your team is not checked-in on time, the match schedule will be run without your team, and they cannot compete. The match schedule CANNOT be run after the tournament begins.

1:00 – 1:20pm: Doors Open, Check-In, Inspection & Judging begins

1:20-1:30: Drivers Meeting

1:30 – 2:30pm: Skills

2:30 – 4:00pm: Qualification Rounds

4:00 – 4:15pm: Finals Tournament

4:15pm: Awards


Please note:

- A maximum of 3 driver and 3 programming will be permitted per the qualifying criteria

- An even number of teams will compete in Finals Tournament

If the weather makes you late for the event or prevents you from attending, please immediately call or email.

If the event is canceled due to weather or unforeseen circumstance, it will be posted here and registered teams will receive an email.

Refund and Payment Policies

If the Event Partner cancels the event: 

Registration fees minus the $5 REC processing fee per team will be issued if the event is canceled. 

If a Coach/Mentor completes registration for the event then chooses to withdraw or not attend:

There will be no refunds for individual team cancellations.

Judging Format

All In-Person Judging : The Team Interviews and Engineering Notebooks will be judged in-person the day of the event. Teams should bring a physical copy of their notebook to submit to the judges.  Notebooks will be collected at check-in.
