Is it legal of the front and wings structure?

Recently, we saw a lot of robots using the following design of front parts and wings. We have some questions regarding those: In the first picture:

  1. The front between drive train is flat (blue arrow), but the two C-channels on each side forms a small angle like the picture (red arrows). When the two angle parts are compared to the flat part pointed by blue arrow, they are in small ratio. So is it legal to have this kind of structure? How many degree of the angle is allowed in reality? 2 The wings installed on the c-channels forms a very small corner, is that legal if use it for plowing? How small of the corner is allowed? Because in reality, it can't be aligned perfectly. 3 What if the above two structures are combine together, is it still legal? img

The below picture is another common design. The front of the drive train are flat. But there is a flat part behind them which forms a concave or hole. Is that legal? img<SG7>

We believe our response to Q&A 1610 applies to your question, and provides some broad categories that Head Referees can use to help make this type of call. We are unable to provide the firm numbers and concrete rulings you've requested.

Regarding your examples:

  • Your first example, with concave sections that are far smaller than Triballs, would generally not be considered Possession. However, the final judgment would be made by a Head Referee after observing how Triballs interact and are or are not controlled by that face of the Robot.
  • Your second example, with a concave section between two drive trains, would likely risk a Possession Violation if used to move multiple Triballs.
