Middle School Student Definition Clarification

8301E
10-Sep-2022

In Section 2 of the Rulebook, under General Definitions "Middle School Student" is defined as "a student born after May 1, 2007 (ie who will be 15 or younger at VEX Worlds 2023). A "High School Student" is defined as "any eligible student who is not a Middle School Student". Is it a correct interpretation of this definition that the status of whether a student is classified as Middle School or High School is determined by their age, NOT by the school that they attend? For example, would it be possible for team made entirely of 9th graders who were all born after May 1, 2007, but attend a High School that has grades 9-12, to legally register as a MIddle School team?

Yes, this interpretation is correct. The team described in this example could register as either a Middle School or High School team.
