We have found that different parts of our robot that are isolated from other components of the robot with nylon spacers have issues with blowing a port on the brain. If there is a motor in the isolated section, and it is only connected to the main part of the robot through the wire running the motor it tends to blow a port over time probably due to static build up. We found potential voltage differences with a multi-meter across the different parts of the robot. We have bonded the isolated components of the robot together with a stand of the jumper stock and the issue with blowing ports went away.
My question: To fix the problem we used a stand of wire form the V5 cable to connect the isolated parts of our robot to the main part of our robot. Is it competition legal to have strand from the V5 jumper wire connection different parts of the robot?
